I read about fixing it in the Installs but is this realisticly easy for me to do at home? If not, what are my other options? I realize I can buy an adjustable control arm which will solve my camber problem but how much easier is this than doing the Install? Thanks! Also --> Price is a major factor!

I don't know how much correction you can do with the factory arms. Maybe some but not much.

You NEED to give us more info.

Is your car lowered? What car is it?

Camber is adjusted when having an alignment done. You cannot align you own car.

It might not be camber wear. Toe out can also cause wear on the inside of the tires. At any rate , you need to have the car aligned. You can lower it untill there is only about 3/4 of an inch gap from the tire to the fender, and still have it aligned to stock toe. However, if your car is this low, it is impossible for the stock camber settings to get rid of all the camber. Minimum camber will be around 2.5 degrees. You can order some rear upper control arms (rucas), which will give you a better range of camber adjustability. If you wan't to go lower than that, you will need some rear toe arms to correct your toe setting. Remember, everytiime you change the ride height of you car, or put on suspension peices, it needs to be aligned.

I installed the control arms from SPL recently, and I think they are well worth the money.

Install is fairly straight forward, I did mine in the driveway. Just measure the stock arms with the new adjustable ones, and then lengthen by a bit (untill you get an alignment). And pay attention to the adjustable camber bolt when installing so that both sides are at the same setting. You will need a couple large wrenches to adjust the control arm.

Naed240sxI dont mean to hijack this thread, but instead of starting a new one, allow me to ask you .... what are you running in your car when it comes to the rear of your suspension...???I've been using Eibachs and GR-2's for years, got a new set of Ksports and Im planning in lowering the car about the same height as yours...what will I need?? Just want to make sure, so I get the parts now and be ready for the coilover instal....Is Rucas all I need??

thanks

All I have is coilovers, rucas, and a good alignment. You don't even need ruca's, but you will have to deal with around -2.3 degrees camber. FYI, I have an inch gap between my tires and fenders. Im warning you though, you will want to go lower, as I do. I want to go another inch. For this, I will be getting close to the limit of the stock rear toe eccentric bolts, so I might need toe arms.

Relevant Question: Hey I have -3 camber on my car and would like to go lower. I was lookin at SPL's RUCA's as my first choice but I saw these just now:

Heck of a lot cheaper. I would expect them to be high quality since they are coming from a nissan dealer. Anyone have experience with these?

I have a feeling not many people will see this post so I may post in 240sx and Silvia forum with different title.

They work, but for how long is the question. Those arms are very weak. Pretty much the same stuff that is sold on ebay. If they get at all rusty, coroded, or have the bearing bind, they WILL break. If you are willing to take that risk, you can use them, but just be careful. You are probably better off waiting and buying something good. The spl arms are very high quality, as well as cusco (what I have). Just buy the spl. They are cheaper, and well backed. Cusco is probably even better, but not worth the price unless you find some perfect condition used ones.

Note: I have only owned the cusco rucas, but I can personally vouch for the quality of spl's other products, and have delt with the owner personally. Very well run company. People have bought the ones you linked to, most don't have problems, but I have seen multiple pics of them breaking.

And by the way, people do come to this forum. Most of which actually know what they are talking about, unlike the people in the 240sx forum.

Toe links really aren't as nessicary if you have camber links. taking out the camber will fix the natural toe in.

As low as I am I'm at -3.2 or so rear camber. (somebody buy mah mother fawking paintball gun)

I remember you saying this, but at an inch above my tires, running only -1.2 degrees rear camber, and 0 toe, I am very close to the limit of my rear toe eccentrics. Maybe the bushings are just really worn out? I would estimate that If I went lower, I would run out of toe adjustment.

It's false information. Camber adjustment will not fix toe.

Hows that, Champ?

Lengthen the camber links and it will pull out toe.

Theres not a doubt in my mind that if I went from the 3.2R camber I have to the 1.7 I want I could get away with stock toe links.

Well, due to the multi-link rear suspension design camber and toe adjustments will affect one another. Neither can "fix" the other though, esspecially in lowered cars (since it's give and take). This is what Dori was refering to.

This is one of the reasons it's so damned tough to get the alignment set correctly in a lowered S13,S14, and Z32.

That said, camber and toe arms would be a good investment.

^Thanks.

I've been doing my own alignments on my s-chassis for years now and know how much camber adjustments affect the toe...they are definitely not enough to "fix" toe.
