This past weekend the temp gauge on my KA has been reaching the H and after a few minutes it returns to its normal position. The engine drives and shifts just fine. I notice it dosent accelerate as fast when the temp is on H but the engine dosent feel hot or anything. What the problem? What do I need to fix or replace?

I had a problem with mine overheating off and on for several months last winter, even in cold weather. Was erratic. Sometimes you could make it stop just by shutting down the car for a minute or 2 and it wouldn't do it again for days. The mechanic couldn't find the problem. Changed out thermostat with no change. Had to replace engine (not to worry - whole different problem) so put new water pump on and eventually developed a radiator leak and had that changed too (yes, bad year for this car, but then it had given me 210,00 miles of problem-fre service before that!) and it would still overheat from time to time.

Then I learned that there's a small screw in the top of the water lines right next to the engine block. You have to open that when you fill/add to the coolant system. It looked likes it's lower than your rad cap, but it's level. Tighen it back down when both rad and this opening are full and no problems since. Apparently even the tinest bit of air in the system makes it weird.

How long has it been doing this? Are you losing any fluids? In other words are you topping off the radiator? If so then it sounds like you have a leak somewhere and you are getting air in the system, so like he said, open the bleed screw when you top it off.
