Needing to put a motor in a 200sx.

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

This is very odd. I'm out of ideas other than good luck and check into the Technical forum, NISTECH (aptly-named Nissan Technician) can probably be of more assistance.

I usually do end up with the odd ball cars, just my great luck I guess. I was just kinda curious do you have to take the motor out of the car to put the transmission in or can it be halfway mounted? I don't know what the problem is with this car but it's just being a royal pain.

It seems to me that you could get the motor and transmission in at once, they're not that large, but having never done it myself, I can't say.

Okay it IS possible to put the transmission in while the engine is still mounted inside the engine bay. It took me all day to do it but I did it. It took two hydraulic jacks one of my tires and a plank of wood. I think next time though I might just drop the engine instead of doing that because that's a pain in the @$$.

Now I've got a problem. I've got everything hooked up but it doesn't want to start, as in the starter won't engage and half of my info lights won't come on when I put it in the "on" position. All I get is a click and I know that the battery is good and I even put my old starter from the original engine on there and it does the same thing so I don't know.

two in a row though? I guess that it's possible but what are the odds of it actually happening? I'll have to pull it back off and test it to see if that's the case or not. Other than it being the starter it could be that I've missed a ground wire somewhere. What do you think?

I think that it may be the ignition lock cylinder cause I got it to start once but now it won't. Another thing is that on my info lights are still doing the same thing but occasionally I can get them all to come on.
