needing help with wiring

ok so i just got a vh45 engine and the harness that came with it is completely hacked ive got eveything back in order that i need except for one wire, i dont know where it splices into or originally went. its the red wire with two white stripes and two silver marks every inch or so the comes from the plug to the gas tank. i have it going back into the block conector for the gas tank end but on the main harness it has been cut off and i have no clue as to where it would go. the engine and harness are out of a 95
