Hey, well my current turbo right now is a GT28RS "Disco potato" now i have not been running it with a restrictor, ppl say i need one some say i dont, i heard i needed like a 1/8npt restrictor with the ones that say i need one, i really want to find out the answer, if any one can give me a answer it would be appreciated. Heres a link to the restrictor that i "think" i need. Thanks for your guy's time

I started a very long discussion about this a few days ago on this forum...you should take a gander.

I definitely would not run the size restrictor ATP sells...1/16" is ridiculously small. The smallest I'd run is 1/10", and 1/8" seems more reasonable to me. As has been said, if you're running a -3 feed line, you don't need a restrictor. I don't know if your GT28RS is ball bearing though, if it is, then you're supposed to run an even smaller restrictor than non BB.

Where should i excatly put the restrictor closer to the turbo or right where i T of from the Oil pressure sensor, also how can I find out if is greater than a -3 line. I believe the turbo is BB, and can not running a restrictor be harmful?, i asked the guys at ATP they said i don need one, but seem like they shide me off. thanks for the reply hopefully more to come.

IIRC, the SR20DET has a restrictor right after the oil line coming from the block....I like the idea of putting one right after the block instead of before the turbo, but most people put one right at the turbo inlet because it's easiest.

A -3 line has an OD of 3/16".

As far as being harmful to the turbo if you don't run a restrictor, it all depends on whom you ask. I ran w/o a restrictor for 4000 miles and had no problem; the only time i ever had a problem with the turbo smoking (blowing oil past the seals) was after I used a restrictor...apparently not enough oil was flowing in/out of the turbo at idle and oil coked and blocked the drain line, and this was despite being very conscientious about letting the engine cool down plenty before shutting it off. I was using larger than a -3 line, and a .075" restrictor.
