Just buy a new one...I got one for free through my dad (he works for NAPA) but you'd have to drop $100 or more for one...and it is not necessary to remove the intake (assuming you have the stock plastic pipe) just reach around...make sure you disconnect the battery and unplug the alternator, then unscrew the bolts (I don't remember how many there were, 3-5?) If you have never done it, you might want someone to help who has.

plus if you replace it then, you may also get a warranty from the supplier on the alternator. i.e. Napa gold I think has a lifetime.

if the shop is reputable, tell them to "upgrade" while at it. the stocker's good for 70 amps maximum, and most shops can do 90-100 amps upgrades...

Is there any place that makes alternators for '95 240 thats good for over 150amps? Reason I'm asking is because I plan on getting a sound system and it would be ideal to have an alternator at 150 amps or more.
