GRA135

is my favorite... but I'm more of a "design it yourself" type person... so I wasn't too impressed...

I don't know why you'd be asking our opinion on a personalization for your car.

Probably a lot of people here are anti-graphics. I've had vinyls on two previous cars and I liked it, but you have to find something that's really truly you.

Of course, I also have to say that even though I like graphics (sorry, it's my inner ricer coming out), I have to say... don't pick something tacky. Subtle and understated can go a long way.

Oh and Clipsed... enough with the whoring of the smileys, please.

I've never been one to go for graphics on my own car, but if you're asking which one I think would look best on your own, I like GRA012 the most followed by 017. I agree with EV: this is your decision man. When you ask people's opinions on which mods to do or not, you're gonna hear what everyone has to say. Most of the time, they don't have the same things in mind, but it shouldn't offend you. Personalizing your ride is your own thing. It makes you happy and no one else. I've heard some pretty harsh comments about billet grilles and Sony mobile electronics on this forum so far. I have a billet grille on my car that I think looks awesome and I work for Sony and run almost all Xplod equipment. Am I offended? Absolutely not, because I feel the same way about people who don't have a billet grille and who pay more money for electronics. Basically, if it's something you really like and you really want to do, then just do it and appreciate your ride more than everyone else's!

Hmmm... that was, sadly, rather contrary. Saying you want your car to look as "race efficient" as possible actually negates several of the mods you want to do.

Chrome wheelcovers? wheel covers of any kind are not used in racing. In fact, you're required to remove them. Any racer worth his salt uses the lightest weight alloy wheels he can afford. And chrome ain't light by any stretch of the imagination. Go take a look at Rota Circuit 8's and other similar wheels, then you'll know what people put on their cars when they take them to the autocross track. Higher forms of racing get even more expensive, lighter wheels.

Decals are used in racing because of sponsorships. OK... this will make your car look more like a race car.

Underglow... no racer has this. It's dead weight. Unless you're racing in the Need for Speed: Underground series... in which case, neon is the least of your issues.

Graphics... again, true racers don't use any more than is necessary to distinguish their car from the others. Mostly this means they just do sponsorship decals and car number. Maybe a racing stripe to help as a visual cue.

Body kit... again, something that adds weight, which is the racer's enemy. Race cars that are on circuits that DO have body modifications are done for specific aerodynamic reasons (to correct factory shortcomings), and are made of the absolute lightest materials they can get away with.

EV, he just wants to LOOK like a racer, not BE one. Comon EV he can't post pics of his Turbo and NOS setup? pshh, I don't know anyone (besides him) on this board if they had the setup he claims to have that would not post pics of it and show it off as one of the first turbo V's. It's all a joke.

Don't buy off the shelf graphics it would just make you look like the other guy that bought the same over priced kit as you.If you want something on your car small striping always looks good may be try two different colors?I plan on designing a custom two color stripe in the near future for my car but it WON'T look Fast and Furious.I am also in the sign and vinyl graphics biz so it won't cost much

Yes, and also contradictory is that he's dropped $3k on suspension and still has hubcaps. When he still had his sig picture up, I just assumed he had chrome aftermarket rims.

I'm not trying to put the kid down - but it's more than a little maddening how he thinks he's pulling the wool over our eyes with all this. He might fool kids at his high school, but most everyone here should be insulted by how gullible he thinks we are.

Guys, i dont know what the **** im doing.I just wanna race and win, and i want my car to look the way i want it to...not the way u do.

I do like EVs points on lightweight stuff...thanks for that. But I have no money!!!! So its hard to get good racing **** with no money. Thats why I have wheelcovers instaed of rims, or i would have got Nismo rims a long time ago!!! Im not trying to fool anyone. I may be in high school, but that doesnt mean i am immature. I know what really matters in life, and impressing kids isnt one of them.

Now here is the real truth: I have no NOS system. I have a very small turbo system installed (money issues). I have MPX Subs...not too great. Im a liar and im sorry. Ban me if u want, idc, cause i know i made a mistake. Its just the internet anyways.

But if u want to be nice, you can give me in depth help on how to make the fastest Versa out there (with my budget)...

So do what u will, and Clipsed, try to stop flaming people all the time, u might have an insecurity, but i sure as hell hope ur ok in REAL LIFE.

Im out

If you want true help/advice.

Save money and don't spend on small things that will do nothing for the car. If you want to be fast, then wheel covers aren't helping, graphics aren't helping, etc.

Just save your money and get what will help, you don't need 'nismo' wheels to be great, good lightweight wheels that can handle wider tires for more traction will improve handling. And they can be much cheaper than 'nismo' ones.

I'm guessing that on 'your budget' that you do not actually have a 'turbo system'. I'm assuming that this is either A) nothing at all or B) an ebay electric 'turbo' or C) a 'tornado' device in the intake. Advice here, don't tell people you have a turbo and not have one, you will be made fun of and written off as a 'stupid ricer'.

We've probably all had our 'ricer' days and you will hopefully learn and grow out of them as most people do. I, for the most part, only cared about cosmetic stuff and audio when I was in HS, didn't even know what could be done to my car for performance stuff. But got on forums (240sx.org, before NICO was created) and learned/matured.

Don't worry, you hadn't fooled most of us from post #1 (claims of 175 hp...). I'm not trying to rag on you Cleveland, but we must have different definitions of immature.
TheClevelandSound wrote:Now here is the real truth: I have no NOS system. I have a very small turbo system installed (money issues). I have MPX Subs...not too great. Im a liar and im sorry. Ban me if u want, idc, cause i know i made a mistake. Its just the internet anyways.
Is your "turbo" a Turbonator, by any chance? You said you got it for $50 - so as long as you're going to "come clean", you might as well tell the whole truth. Those Tornado/Turbonator/Spiralmax "turbos" have been proven in some cases to even decrease HP - they actually act as a restriction on your air intake.

So that's point of advice #1 - remove the "very small turbo".

I don't think anyone wants to ban you - and I bet there are plenty of people who like to assist you in modding your Versa. There have already been many topics covered, like which CAI to buy and so on and so forth - searching is a good place to start.

But if you want my advice, I would save my money and not mod your car much further right now. It's a nice, new car, and you're probably not making much money right now since you're in high school. Save the money for dates (and savings) and wait to drop hundreds on an intake, rims, and beyond when you've got better cash flow.

Then you probably didn't get into cars at an early age. Or you worked on muscle cars at an early age and just believe that there was nothing qualified as 'ricer', but there probably was.

I got my first car a 1963 VW Bug in back in 1984 at the age if 14 and have pretty much owned euro cars ever since.I also currently have a 1982 Ur Quattro that I take to a lot of car shows hear on the west coast and also do some track events at Button Willow and Willow Springs from time to time. But now I wanted a car that was reliable and most of all got good gas mileage to replace my daily driver a 1987 Vanagon Syncro. So I started my quest to find just that car I picked up a 07 Black Versa SL with CVT for that purpose this week and now I found this forum and all the nice things aftermarket for this car.

Kudos to Cleveland for coming clean! I would bet that you would have no problem getting expert advice for modding your V.

All we wanted from the get-go was the truth, and now that you've come clean you'll find a whole different world here.

What biggie said about rims is good advice. You can get a set of pretty light Kazera rims off of Tirerack.com, for way less than NISMO rims.

But also heed Rockhound's advice: don't just waste money on small things that will do little or nothing. Have patience, save your money, and get items that will do more to help you. Don't get the $50 short ram off of ebay, save the money and get an AEM or Fujita CAI when you can afford it. Don't piece together a $100 exhaust system using an ebay fart cannon and some joe schmoe exhaust welder. Save up and get the AEM cat-back. it goes on and on.

Also, if you're in high school, you need to concentrate on so many things. Make sure 1) your grades are the best they can be (trust me, I was a screw up in HS and have been paying for it the last decade), 2) you've got a means for going to college... even if it's just community or technical college... THEN 3) social life or car, whichever you choose.

I worked all through high school and college, always made sure that I had enough money for college plus some play money. Now I have much more play money.
