I got my Nismo Exhaust yesterday but when I opened the packages, it looked as if one of the pipes is damaged. I e-mailed the guy I got it from and he said

"The pipe pictured is not damaged. That is the way it comes. Those in the exhaust business call it a clearance bend.It is shaped that way at the factory to fit your vehicle. If you were to put your car up in the air you would see that the stock pipe is shaped in a similar".

Is this normal for anyone that has the Nismo Exhaust? Please let me know ASAP so I can get back to him if it needs to go back.

Nope! That's definitely the way it should be. Everything he said is accurate.

To me that doesn't make sense if you are buying a high flow exhaust system, this seems like it would be fairly restrictive. Anyone with the Nismo Exhaust, does this look normal?

WOW...!!! Let me tell you. I just installed the Nismo Catback last night in about an hour. Installation couldn't be easier and the sound is perfect. I would describe it as a little louder and deeper than the stock 350Z sound. I absolutely love it. I enjoy driving even more now.

wow im glad i got the greddy... because its full unrestricted piping... and i guess that not having that "clearence bend" helps with the performance and sound

I don't know..... I love the sound of the Nismo. It is amazing. The OEM Pipe did have the same bend, but I didn't see any clearance issues, so I don't understand the reasoning for it, but I love the exhaust none the less. Greddy just didn't give the clean look I was after.

So that extra space is gonna make up for the 20hp loss from those ugly tips? lol jkjk I cant see it making a significant difference... Its not like its adding 20hp... what could the differences btwn them possibly be

The more power it produces the more gas itll use.

More restricted = less power = less gas used.

Etc.

These exhuast systems probably dont gvive u much so u wont have to worry.

How does it sound on the highway? Any droning? I've been looking at exhausts, but with as many trips as I take, I don't think I could put up with a 70mph drone. Thanks

Just remember NISMO isn't known for its performance. It's better than stock but not better than most aftermarket.

Loop is the biggest nismo hater lol..

Whats your thoughts on the hp gain from the nismo? the greddy? the stillen? artisan?

The gain isnt huge, and if im splitting hairs between getting x horsepower from one, and getting x-4 hp from the other (but has a better sound) ill stick with the x-4.

But everyones got their own opinion!

That bend is probably not robbing hp at all. As a matter of fact its probably increasing low-end torque. (Same thing the stock exhaust was designed to do) Nismo sounds very good once its broken in.

Most exhausts and headers are known for sacrificing a little of that good ol OEM restrictive low-end torque for top-end power. When exhaust gases pulse through the exhaust sometimes it will get colder and loose pressure so a bend or 2 will warm it back up so it can move out quicker.
