Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

OK, I am going to visit a 2nd dealer to fix the problems caused by 1st dealer. My goal is i hope the 2nd dealer can provide me with as much as evidence which proves it was the 1st dealer ` fault. For example, if the 1st dealer changes my caliber and then i have soft brake problem, I hope the 2nd dealer can put it in writing and say your soft brake is caused by the improper installation of caliber....

However, as you guys know, i can not tell 2nd dealer the true story OR nobody wants to get involved with.

Do you guys have some ideas/recommendation ? What should I say to 2nd dealer ?

Thanks

I think your best bet is just to call Infiniti directly and tell them your issue. Tell them that you are not happy with the service and experience they are putting you thru. They might just force the first dealer to fix the problem for good.

Second dealer can see the service records they'll know you had it at the 1st dealer especially if your issue was warranty work. dealers hands are tied when it comes to warranty they "must" fix it, unless they find something that voids the warranty.

Give Infiniti a call, you might just save yourself a trip to the other dealer which I'm sure it's miles away.

Thanks guys, I already tried to call infiniti Canada but it is not helpful. I tried my best to solve the problems but it looks like the only choice i have is to go to a 2nd dealer.

So guys

1. The 2nd dealer is 11 hours drive from the 1st dealer and I dont think they know each other. If i dont want them to help me prove something. At lease, do you think they are willing to fix the problems caused by 1st dealer ?

2. i dont understand when you said " especially if your issue was warranty work. dealers hands are tied when it comes to warranty they "must" fix it, unless they find something that voids the warranty."

what is the difference between normal work and warranty work and why the dealers want to find something that voids the warranty?

Thanks

Money is the difference, they make money when the costumer is paying cash, they make money on you in parts, labor, troubleshooting etc.. They make a lot more money coming out of your pocket than with the warranty job.

They have to do the warranty work, it's a must. But, Let's say they find aftermarket parts or find that you didn't maintain the vehicle properly( ex: assuming your problem is related to maintenance by not using manufacturer recommend oils, or not doing oil changes when they recommend) they'll find a way to void it. They'll fix it but with your money of course, and not under warranty.

The dealer "fixed" your problem and something new popped up . Now they won't fix the new issue? I'm sure they offered to fix it for a ridiculous amount of money, right?

11 hrs is a long way man and it won't guarantee they'll fix it. I would call up ahead first and be straight up with the them if they say no, you'll save on gas money and hotel. Have you tried local shops? they are usually much cheaper than dealer.

I'm with C.los. Call the 2nd dealer. You say " i can not tell 2nd dealer the true story" but as c.los says once they check the service records they will know 1st dealer did work and may in fact call them.
IMO, #2 dealer won't touch it knowing #1 did work on it , If your looking to have it fixed under warranty. You'll have a wasted trip/time/money.
If your willing to pay they may do so but im sure it wont be cheap.
What exactly are we talking about here , is it something major ?

THanks Chelsea, Hard shifting + soft brake. I feel it is very wired as they happen together. At the beginning I thought the brake is caused by the air in brake fluid. I guess i was wrong because if i drive on highway for couple minutes ( or high speed ) the brake become firm again. Plus i just traded off my old car and got this one 4 months ago.
