hey guys i'm new on this site and have been looking around here for a solution to my problem. recently, my motor has oil in 3 cylinders. i don't if the head gasket is blown or the valve stem seals. one morning, i just warm up my car and the car is burning blue smoke which later on, i took out the spark plugs and saw that there was oil in 3 cylinders. before this issue occur, i have blow by and my dipstick would pop out and squirt out oil. this is a sr20det s14 with 8:5 compression. (don't really know b/c that's what the seller told me)...if i do a compression test, what numbers would i expect...any suggestions or help would be appreciated...thanks...

I believe SR's should be around 150psi.Remove the CAS plug and make sure you have the throttle open when you test.

Sounds like Rings or HG

well guys, i did compression test today and follow all the procedure i read on here to test the cylinders...cylinder 1 have 120, cylinder 2 have 130, cylinder 3 have 119, and cylinder 4 have 120....i also did a leakdown test too, cylinder 1, 2, &4 have no leakage but cylinder 3 have leak (as said on the gauge 20%) we put about 50 psi into the cylinders and put everything one to top dead center...this time i experience a little oil in cylinder 3 & 4....after we did the leakdown test...all the oil from cylinder 3 disappear so me and my friends were wondering that it's the piston ring...

my question is, i just bought the motor about a year ago and the seller told me that i have 8:5 compression...i was wondering if the compression have anything to do with the 120 compression all across the motor or are my rings going out...he said that they were je pistons 8:5 compression...

i'm planning to take off the head and take out the piston...should i just buy one piston or should i buy all four and rebuilt it again...is it just buying the new piston and put it by in or do i have to take it the block to the machine shop and have it clean...any suggestions? i would appreciate it very much...

Ok this can be one or two things..either hes yankin chain about ever putting lower compression pistons in your motor OR.. he did all the work himself and he didn't properly break in the motor..none the less basicaly he installed the pistons put the motor back in the car and beat the crap out of it and the piston rings didn't properly exspand and make a tight fit in the cylenders.

If your going to go through the hassle of pulling the 1 piston out. I would just buy a full kit and redo all 4..and break in the motor before you beat on it.

If you think it could be your rings, you could poor a small amount of oil into the cylinder and try it again. The oil should make for a better seal.

i probably just have to buy a full set and break in the motor myself...but do i have to reseelve the block or take it to the machine shop?

depends what your cylinder walls look like. you should atleast hone them out before you put the new rings in.

just talk to one of my buddies about my problem and he said that it might of been the rings lining up that causes the oil to slid in to the cylinder...he say that if the compression are all the same then there is nothing wrong but i will have to pull out the head and take out the pistons and see what is wrong with it...thanks for all the suggestions and help guys...i appreciated very much...i'll keep an update on it...hopefully everything is fine...
