Hey guys, my power steering rack is completely messed up. Just ordered a brand new one and I need a write up with pics hopefully, or maybe a link to a free PDF service manual download. I have a 1995 nissan 240sx. I know I'm gonna need a lift, I just need to know how to take it out and put it in.

Thanks in advance!

you don't need a lift. but you will need a pickle fork if you plan on switching out your tie rod ends.

as far as your original post, I can do it w/ a floor jack/stands lifted up about 2 feet off the ground.

keep in mind to mark the outer tie rod end or measure them before taking that apart...

that way, you can reassemble it back to your car's specs so it'll drive str8 enuff to the shop for an alignment job.

any other pointers from fellow NICOnauts?

oh- u know to use red ATF & not the clear power steering fluid for this, right? just checkin'

ATF dexron III. Might want to take it to a car wash that can clean the underside before you tackle this one. It sucks having road grime fall into your eyes or your mouth as you're cussing about a busted knuckle...

lol, I'm far from alligned. I had taken it to the shop to get an allignment, that's when they told me they couldn't because the rack was junk. So rather then pay them $900, I figured I'd buy the part myself and do it. So, right now it's about alligned as it will get. However, I'll do it the old fashioned way after I Get it in, and use a tape measurer from tire to tire

Red ATF is dually noted, Thanks.
