i wasn't getting sound coming out of my speakers, so i read and found out about the amp-turn on wire. but after i looked at the original harness, i noticed that there isn't a connection for amp-turn on wire from the adapter harness. what i mean is that the adapter harness has an amp-turn on wire, but the origial harness doesn't have a wire to match it. so what do i do about that? btw this is in an '89 240sx

Most common solutions are to use a power ant lead or some other "trigger" wire that's only live when the key is in the acc position or the car is running.

does that require any modifications to the original harness? and the adaptor harnessonly comes with two parts, but there are two more leads, one is just a red wire with a black clip at the end, and another looks like the others connectors, but there are only four openings. what do i do about those?

Sorry, don't have any first hand experience with the 240's, so I can't say for sure.

Every (aftermarket) car stereo made should either have a power ant or amp "turn on" trigger wire. This may not translate to the "adapter/harness" you purchased since your car does not have a power ant. If all else fails, try testing both wires using a multi-meter and see if there's any "trigger voltage" on the leads when the hu powers up.

i forgot to mention that i had a deck and new speakers installed professionally, but someone stole my deck. the speakers are still there though. i'm not sure how the installers did the first deck, but i'll go check to see if the speakers are "active" or not
