need wiring help (rb26dett into s13)

this is an rb26dett going into an s13 i have a an extra wire left over from my swap and i cant find where it goes , its a black wire with a yellow stripe and is located ont the harness that has the knock sensors on it , this wire goes to the air flow unit under the intake manifold and i cannot find out where this wire goes to from the unit . im sure its a simple thing to figure out but ive looked thru the manuals and cant find where it goes to. if any body can help me out that would be great. thanks in advance

sounds like a ground wire to me man.

thick black wire with a yellow stripe only sounds like the starter wire to me. You would not need this unless you're trying to use the rb26 lower harness on your swap. If you still want to use this method you would have to wire it to the wire that's the same size that is black with a white stripe.

Might want to clarify what you mean by 'air flow unit'.. if you don't know what exactly you're dealing with, you shouldn't be dealing with it.

thanks for the comments and the flamming. this wire appears to be an 18ga wire . this wire is part of the 6 pin plug that has the knock sensor wires in it as well (no this is not one of the knock sensor wires). i have looked through the fsm to find this unit and i cannot locate a name for this piece. if anybody has an fsm it is on page EN-31 and it is the only thing bolted to the block without a description (located under the middle intake ports). its also on page EN-36 with no description. ffrom what i can read from the manual this unit is called the air regulator (not iav) but there is nothing in the manual about its functionallity

now can somebody help me out please

give the air regulator 12v when ign is on and you're good to go. all it does is open slowly as 12v is applied to it. from what i understand it helps give the engine more air on idle bypass as the motor is cold. works in parallel with the iac.

It seems ppl are very critical of other ppl on this site, i make sre that i check every available source and when i post here its because i dont have anywhere else to look and there are alot of experts on this site that can help, i understand there are alot of ppl who join and ask the typical questions and i can justify the flaming but its a technical question, and i nkow somebody has delt with it before

I did solve the problem with the wire , it is ignition and need to be powered up with the ign circuit .
