I concur. I have the Netgear 802.11g (54mbps) wireless router and WG511 PCMCIA card in my laptop, they work great and were a breeze to set up. My parents and also a couple people I know at work have Linksys routers and access points and have had a bunch of trouble with them. We just shipped one back to Netgear cause it was "fried" according to Netgear support.

Hah! So Cingular must be doing better than they were a year and a half ago when they laid me off......

Well, I spent at least 10 hours on the phone with AT&T Technical Support over the past 2 days getting this thing squared away.

Downloaded all drivers, but it still wouldn't install. The tech finally found a note that says the PCMCIA card is a 3v card, and some laptop PCMCIA ports are 5v. Which means the laptop would "blow" the card, and possibly burn up my port. I think this DID happen, because my laptop mysteriously "shut down" when I first tried to install the card.

They're gonna send another card Wednesday, just to SEE if that was the issue. If it is, then AT&T will be out 2 PC cards, and paying for a repair to my laptop (since they knew of this incompatibility) and I'll be shopping for a newer, more compatible notebook PC.

However, AT&T can kiss my arse. I just spent TWO HOURS on the phone with customer service... The instructions contain errors, 30 minutes on hold, the drivers won't download...

Then they're like, "you need to DL them from our website."

That's great - if I could get online with my laptop, do you think I'd be dropping $80+ per month on this damn PC card? And why the hell did I get a CD if it's not gonna work?

Laptop only has a phone line port, and my home connection is DSL.

I'm so pissed right now I can't think straight.

Bastards.

damn.. I'm sorry to hear that... hope things worked out for ya.. let me know how it goes.. I'll try to get some answers if you are not getting any luck..
