I had a car crash - a Lexus RX 400 h just tried to run over my Tiida, and now my rear door, rear bumper, rear lights and the rear parts of the side panels need to be changed. From the official dealer ship they said some very strange price - 25 000 lv ($16000 )only for the parts - there are no problems on the engine, chasis, nothing in front. The problem is I need this parts in Bulgaria, and here it is not a common car so no second hand options.

Does anyone knows how much this package costs and is there some possibility for delivery to Bulgaria? Here are some pictures:

if its anything like the US, your car will be totaled and the insurance will basically buy the car from you.

It is totaled - but the leasing company is willing to sell it to me basically for free as the insurance company is paying some 70% of the price - so I want to fix it - there are no problems on the engine and the chasis.

To me would be easier and cheaper to get another car. Get that one back and part it out to make money, then find another one. That is a lot of work to get the rear quarter panels fixed, much less finding all the rearend parts.

Silly question? You mean stupid question!!! No cars have air bags in the rear!! Plus, air bags deploy on the impact side of the car!

Not really stupid. I wouldn't have been surpised if there were sensors in the rear. But apparently not and the side and front airbags should deploy with side or front impact.

Give me a list of the parts you need. I have a very good friend who runs a Nissan in Lithuania. I will get you a price shipped the Bulgaria. This is not that bad of damage I do not know why everybody is screaming totaled. The engine and everything is intact and everything that is expensive is still good.

$16,000 damage on a $16,000 car. This one's pretty straightforward.

The car would be totaled with much less than that. Unless the cost of labor in Bulgaria is somewhere in the negative, you're looking at an instant write-off.

Hey mister wizard tell us why a impact like that would not set off every airbag in that car.

Personally, have them total the car and replace it with a brand new '09 V. It's not worth the time and effort to repair a damage that costs as much as the vehicle itself. You might be able to get a fully loaded Versa for under 20k! Think of those possibilities!

Mr URG: read this! It's straight from the Nissan Versa service manual. Sensors are on the side and front. hit from the front front airbag deploys, side impact, side curtain deploys!! Dummy!

The car is not mine - it is owned by the leasing company. So the idea is that they will sell it to me for $3k and get the money from the insurance company. So I can buy it for much less than the original value ( it is 1 year old, 10k km) and fix it ( it is diesel with all extras so here it is about $ 24K ( 18k euros)). I'll send a list with the parts later today - and no airbags were deployed, the hit was not so strong and was from the back.

10x for the responses.

I don't think that was called for, from either you or him. You could have simply corrected him in the first place without the negativity. We've already settled enough of these problems this year, we do not need anymore. Thank you.

sencko - Keep us informed on what is going on with your car. Its a shame that had to happen.

$3k is too much to pay for a car in that shape. Would take way too much money to repair.

Is everybody seeing the same car I am. I do not see that crazy of damage. I have seen many more cars with much less of a impact and be fixed. The real value is up front. The engine the airbags and all of the other components up there. this is not that expensive of a fix.

If it was just replacing the hatch and bumper, I would agree. But that much pushed in is a ton of work to fix both rear quarter panels, rear floor/spare tire area, inside the rear, under the car in the rear, etc.

If he could get that car for 4 grand to chicago I would buy it all day long. I could have it fixed for a few grand and have a kick A$$ car. The parts alone are worth more than 4k.

The car's vehicle history is now ****, which means re-selling it one day is going to be more difficult.

If it were that easy of a fix, the dealership would be keeping it.

I have good news and bad news. The good news is I found a parts car for you. The bad news is it is in Canada. See the following link,

http://saskatoon.kijiji.ca/c-c...48722

I do know someone that goes to Bulgaria every summer (as he is from there) however He may have a hard time sneaking a totalled V on the plane. The cost to get this car overseas would be huge.

Hey Ginsu,

You want to go in with me on a fixer upper? I've got a garage to work in.

So eventually I bought the so called remains for $700 ... And everything on the engine is working, the chasis and the electronics are OK and the car is moving on own propulsion.

The parts that I need are: - Whole rear door - door, locking mechanism, window, wiper - side panels - they are moderately broken - rear bumper - inside, outside - some parts of the trunk floor - I do not know the english word - rear lights and licence plate lights :-)

So basically that's all - the color is J40 - light green

Just pull the engine and sell it. Then sell the rest of the car for scrap metal. You'll probably come out ahead that way.

Hell, I'm sure there is someone here who would love to try and pop a diesel in their V. MightyVersa might be interested. He's always wanting to tinker.

I agree. Sell the car for what it's worth, all the body parts, engine, suspension, wheels, interior assets etc. You will gain much more in the long run.
