I'm sorry to ask this question if it has already been answered but I hac=]ve serched and can't find the answer. I have the SOHC engine. I think you call it the KA. I recently blew a head gasket and the tech that repaired it (came highly recommended) Messed up where the vacuum hoses are supposed to go and told me they were not right to begin with. I dfidn't believe him since he left one hose totally loose and the small hose that connects to the larger hose on the plastic air intake is completelt missing. I have a repair manual but for the life of me I can't follow the vacuum diagram.

I do have a specific question though and maybe someone can answer it.On the passenger side. beneath the throttle body is a place where three vacuum hoses connect. I can touch it but can't see and touch it at the same time. The mechanic ran one hose from that connection to the filter canister. He put two other hoses on the remaining connections and plugged one and left the other loose. I plugged it. I need to know where the other two connections connect? Also, Where does the missing smaller hose that connects to the air intake on the passenger side come from? If all else fails , I'll have to take it to the Nissan Dealership and have them run the hoses correctly. I don't want to do that if possible. from whaqt I remember all the other hoses are correct. I am mechanically apt and have done a lot of work on my engine myself, but I can't remember nor understand the diagram in the factory manual. Thank you for any help you can give me.

I believe I figured it out. The loose hose goes to where the intake connection has no hose on it. It supposed to have a tue from the center connection under the throttle body , go up and T off to the air intake and the other tue goes to the AIV that use to be on the drivers side of the motor and then the return tubing came back from the AIV and connected to the outside (or third ) connection under the throttle body. I'm not sure if I should Add the T in the lineandreturnit back to the third connection or just plug it off. Not sure just what the AIV did. I've read a lot of posts that said it caused nothing but problems and that's why it was removed.

Reinstalling the AIVwould be a major job sinnce the tubing that use to connect it to the exaust manifold has been crimped. So thanks for the reads and if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to speak... thanks.

If you go to Nissan--they can print a vacuum hose diagram for you
