I think I might be going top mount here soon. Im not sure really what turbo is adequate for the Ca. I would like to have a nice size turbo, but then again I dont want to have to wait forever for it to spool. My question is what turbo is ideal ? How big of exhuast housing should I be looking for. If anyone has any experiences with any top mount setups, I would like to hear how it performes. thanks

first it depends on your goals for your engine and what all your going to do to it.what kind of driving you going to do?and so on.

i would like around 320 hp. I will have the injectors for it, forged pistons, everything to make the motor handle it. I just dont know if I want to keep a bottom mount turbo that will be running out of breath at 300 hp or sacrifice some spooling time and get a top mount that will be better suited for 300. I just need to hear experiences and opinions, and HOPEFULLY I can make my mind up.

How much money do you have? gt2871r with a 64 back. or you could always go t3/t4 you just want to be careful about the size of your back housing if you are worried about spool time.

The GT28RS would be a great start....

Id stay away from anything other than BB, Although Im having no spool issues with my CT26R.....

Although I think it's completely possible to reach you power goals with a T2 based turbo, I think you'd be stressing your system less with a properly sized T3/T4 setup. Something with a .48 turbine housing shouldn't lag too bad and you'd be making power effeceintly.

It could be done with a T2 series turbo, but I think you'd really be at the upper level of it's effeciency range, and not have much breathing room. I don't think that would be the case with the T3/T4 hybrid.

Is that the ct26 off a 7m supra turbo? If it is how did u get it to work (custom oil/water lines, top mount manifold)? how much boost r u running, and when does it spool? My friend has one w/ upgraded internals but I thought it would spool to late on the ca.

gt2871r with .64 back housing, good for 380whp on SR20 with just cams, spool time is just like my s15 spec-r t28 on my CA. The gt2871r is my buddies, he is going to a top mount soon with a gt3071r, and i will be swapping my s15 t28 for his gt2871r. 320whp will be no prob, once I get cams it will be pushing 350whp, im sure of it. And before anyone says anything, my motor is going to be rebuilt before any of this with forged pistons 550 injectors, z32 maf, all new gaskets bearing, oil and water pumps. It will be ready for the gt2871r and cams. I cant wait. 350whp + one piece driveshaft + 4.36vlsd = mid 11s timeslips if not faster.

would a carbonfiber manifold really hold up to the heats of a turbo system???
