90 Q, 190k on the motor/trannyi have 0 history on the flush status

but here is the deal, the transmission will not go into (D) drive from a dead stop but will when im moving about like 10 mph. It will go into 1,2,3 fine and drive but when i apply more then 1/4 throttle it just slips, then i let off the gas and it catches again.

ive been told that its the turbine sensor which i have just bought, but i have also been told that its the transmission shift solenoids (upper and lower)

ideas??

190k is very old life for a 1990 transmission. Most got replaced under warranty...............even 140k is good life if you didn't maintain them frequently with fluid exchanges.

Your FSM details pressure tests and diagnostic which can help pin point the worn components.

Tech is probably right, however you could try adding your external cooler and doing a flush and see if that helps. Youll need the cooler for the new trans and the $100 spent on a flush might be worth it to get another few months out of the trans.
