Due to a pending divorce I need to sell my 2006 M35X, I've gotten what I would consider terrible quotes from stealerships who would buy the car from me. I've seen $8100...Now I have 98K miles and this is not fully loaded with Navigation and the surround sound with speakers in the seats. However it's in great shape and I think the mileage is decent for a 9 year old car. I'm considering private sale, so I'm wondering what you guys think I should ask as a reasonable starting point. I'm in a negative equity situation and still owe $13K I know I can't get that so i'm prepared to make up the rest to get out of it. I'm simply curious where I should start.

According to the Kelly book value, your car sold to a private party should fetch between $10,00 ('good' )to $11,000 ('excellent') US. If you do a fresh detail of the exterior and interior, have service records confirming all maintenance is current, have good tires, and give it a good polish and wax, you should find a buyer. I would look at car lots and see what dealers are selling them for - then drop your price below theirs and try to get as close to the price range above.

The major problem you have is that most banks won't finance a car with more than 75K miles it and this car doesn't really appeal yet to younger used car buyers.

Maybe try Ebay with a reserve?

The banks might not but someone will finance... It's all about risk/reward.
More younger people are driving these cars and it's due to the value dropping. It's affordable to them now.
