My right rear rotor if turned will be below the minimum, so I need another rotor. Do I have to replace both or can I just replace the one? Should I go OEM or aftermarket?

You can just replace the one. Go OEM.

For even wear, braking characteristics, and thermal performance, please replace both.

Would you use a smaller lighter wheel on one side of one axle only?

But the rears are only 9mm thick new vs wear limit of 8mm. So new pad on the new rotor. Really depends on the in range thickness of the other one if less than 8.3mm change both together.

OEM or Aftermarket?

Joe has 'em for $82.

The local Napa has them for about the same price, w/o S&H and claims their made to meet at least OEM specs. He says sometimes they see improvements. These aren't cross drilled or anything, just solid rotors. The manufacturer is Applied Engineers(?).

What about some of these fancy rotors that are cross drilled and all that stuff?

Given the same or similar price, I'd go with Joe just to give him the business (although if it's YOUR local parts store that you go to all the time, you might also wanna give them the business). It all depends on whom you want to be around in the future. I, for one, try to patronize Joe even though the local dealership is only a few miles away.

On the fancy stuff, correct me if I'm wrong, but when I researched this (dozens of articles all of which were previously posted), I seem to remember all those holes didn't really do much more than look nice (yes they are lighter, perhaps a bit more water resistant, a bit more surface area for heat dissipation but less metal for dissipation, etc.).

Took the "good" rear rotor off and carried to it the shop to measure it. (I was very surprised to learn how expensive those tools to measure this stuff is!)Checked the front pads and rotors last night and they look great!

The driver's side rear rotor was 0.348 inches. Since the new rotors are 0.350 inches I think I'm just going to go with buying the one passenger side rotor. The difference is only 0.002. Do y'all think my logic is sound?

Please let me hear your opinions.

I'm wondering why 1 rotor is .002" below new while the other one is too thin to turn. Perhaps the previous owner replaced only one?

The previous owner carried the brakes to "Just for Brakes" and they didn't replace the pads on one wheel. Thus I've worn it to thin!
