Hi! I'm new to the forum and need some help removing broken glass from my 1994 Q45 rear L/H door. It seems someone thought it would be fun to throw a rock through the window! I've pulled the interior door liner off but can't figure out how to remove the glass from the track or how to install a new piece of glass. Also any sites on locating a new piece of glass would be really appreciated. Thanks!!!

So sorry Jasper.

Try http://www.infinitpartsusa.com for the real thing. Domestic equivalents are usually a little off in shade and size.

Welcome to NICO.

Honestly, there are plenty of Q45s in salvage yards now - and this is a part I would probably feel comfortable buying used... Might check http://www.car-part.com to see if any are available locally. I know the windshield tint band at the top varies by car color, but to my knowledge, the others are all the same.

Check http://www.car-part.com for used. Make sure to limit your search to 94-96 Q45s. The 90-93 had thinner glass... part of the '94 mid-series update.

Oh, and as Brian said, be sure to get the FSM. It will tell you a lot about removal and installation. You'll need to find some freeware (google for it) to decompress the .rar file that you download at http://www.phatg20.net

Good luck!

Hi all, I did a search on replacing the rear door glass. This thread is all I found.

I have looked in the BT (BF for 94) section of the FSM and see nothing about how to install the rear door glass. Just to see if there was more in another manual. I looked at the 94, 95, and 96 FSM.

I have the pieces of the old one out and a new one ready to go. I have been struggling with it a few hours. How do you get the damn thing in? Mine is a 95.

Thanks

Check your email. I just sent you a technical service bulletin (TSB) about replacing the track buttons. I suspect that's the problem you're having. The glass is secured by the two buttons as well as two screws that attach it to the window regulator.

I see. Thank you. I did have the buttons off. I didn't remove the guide rails and the "finishers". the old window was shatterd so removal was easy, except cleaning all the jillion pieces of glass out of the door. Thanks very much.
