like the title says. I need to remove the dash in my '84 z31. Does anyone have a write up or any links. I searched the FSM but didn't see anything that would help. Any help would be appreciated.

it's covered in the fsm

it helps to remove the steering wheel first, you'll have to drop the column and remove the stereo and hvac controls, the rest si pretty straight forward, lots of bolts under the defog vents, more on the trans tunnel and at the base on each end, not a fun job!

4 bolts under the defog vents, one on each end near the bottom, and two in the middle behind the radio/AC. The removal of the dash is a 10 minute job. Depending on your luck, the removal of those two defog vents might be a 30 minute job. Get a really short flathead screwdriver to pry out (forward) the metal clips holding the vents in, and then gently pry upwards with a large flathead. Slide it under the lip and gently rotate the larger one while pushing the clip forward until part of it lifts up, then slide down and get the next one. There are 6 or 7 of those f***ers total, try not to break the vents.

And if you have a digital dash, make sure the first thing you do upon reinstallation is plug in the power supply. Before you set the dash in place, if possible.
