I'm putting a manual in my 89 and need some tips for removing the A/T adapter bearing. An air hammer didn't seem to do the trick. Maybe I used it wrong.

Thanks

I'm doing the auto -> manual swap. In the crank shaft, there's a bearing like the pilot bearing (but this one sticks out about a 1/4").

I picked up a pilot bearing puller from Harbor Freight and also borrowed a puller w/ slide hammer from AutoZone. I budged it, but not enough.

bushing!! if it dont have a roller of some sort in it its not a bearing. I am to assume your are trying to remove it. So take a punch or for a low budget screwdriver. place the tip of the tool along the lip of the bushing along the outside edge of it. aim your tool so when you hit the end of it with a hammer it pushes upward toward the center of the bushing opening. you are attempting to crush the bushing. once it folds inward it should become fairly easy to pick out. you need to have the bushing hanging out even a little bit for this to work.Cause you need to hit the outer surface of the bushing.

Thanks! I give that a try. Do you think cutting into it with a dremel might help it collapse? Or maybe drill some holes in the part that sticks out?

its cheap pot metal you should be able to break it up as i described pretty easily if its sticking out. you can cut it with a drimmal but you DO NOT want to damage the surface in the crank shaft it sits in.
