Welp guys,

I'll preface this by saying this may have been poor planning on my part.... My wife and I are due to move to a new apartment/garage this week and I am neck deep in an engine refresh on my G50. Alternator, battery, valve covers, radiator, cooling system, etc etc etc are all removed and in the process of being rehabilitated. Needless to say my car is not in a position to be turned on to shift from park into neutral.

I'm looking for any ideas on how to overcome this to push it out of one garage, up onto a tow bed (I don't have to worry about this part, thanks AAA) and back off/into the new two car tandem garage :chuckle: .

Option A is obviously hope my parts from performanceVH come in tomorrow and give me the weekend to reassemble everything (BTW this is in no way PerformanceVH's fault. They have been over communicative and awesome in every regard. USPS is delayed in delivery.)

Option B is ??????

Thanks in advance for any advice guys!

….if only Infiniti had considered the possibility of this exact situation and built in a fail safe “shift lock” to accommodate moving the car into neutral without power 🙈

Needless to say I was missing a common sense gene today, for anyone else that experiences this the car has a shift lock tab to the right of the gear selector, pry that cover up and remove the screw holding block tab underneath and ta-da! A button you can press to bypass needing power to put into neutral gear. After all, this forum is about learning from each other (and sometimes ourselves) right!?!?

In all fairness, your version of the Q has a cover for the button - while the early Q wasn't as subtle, so it's understandable that it took a few minutes to figure it out!

I don't know (or care) why mine has a shift lock, but it no longer works. Apparently someone might of had tried to steal it from the previous owners. So I can pretty much shift into neutral or other gears at any time engine on or off. Comes in handy when cleaning or having to remove a head unit

Quick question: how the hell do you remove the shift box itself or the shift knob? I wanted to replace with the heated seat option....But found the shift knob connected deep down in the transmission. Easy to see at a salvage yard but not something I wanted to mess with on mine.
