Been a Ford man for past 20 yrs and I just aquired a 90' 240sx with a blown engine so i sh** about this thing but am learning on a daily basis. I have been looking at a lot of replacement engines in the past few days and was wondering what engines will fit in the thing or will all engines, even the vg30's fit.

Whats your definiition of FIT??? As far as what engines have been put in well alot hehe, going from CA18, FJ20, SR20, RB20, RB25, RB26, VG30E and DE, some domestic engines, the supra I-6 (never bothered to learn the name of that one), and Im sure some other odd mix, oh and the KA24E and DE of course.

The frame mounts up to the CA SR and KA bsically drop in as all where offered in that frame in the s13's and SR and KA in the s14's (but the CA also fits of course). Those are the most likely candidates as they are the easiest.

So like I said all of these have been done but it depends on how deep your pockets flow, how much time you have, how well you can swing a sledge, and if their is a blood bank nearby :)

If you go rb26 it wont truely be a full rb26 setup, more of like a hybrid and a headache. Go rb25 instead to save some serious hassles.

Youll need, from way back trying to remember, a rb25 rwd transmission and dry sump setup (IIRC), custom manifold or run single turbo (might as well go rb25 that way) and piping and quite a few other things.

Also neither the rb26 or rb25 just drop right in and thats where the good sledge swing comes into play to massage the firewall and possibly transmission tunnel. Definately do some research if you plan on going with the larger RB's.

SR should be rather effortless, and has tons of info on it.

Personally I would, or am, go with a nicely built up KA-T. Find a few dohc motors in decent shape and convert your PS lines over to dohc, drop one in for the meantime and rebuild the other KA for boost. Make your own turbo kit and mount it to the fresh motor. Its a more gearheadded hands on personalized (while the other being just custom and unique) approach I feel.

I have to agree with 96_S14_SE, if you want something to play with I would go with the KA24DE-T. Over here in Orlando, this guy named Jay has his running 11's in the quarter mile. Sometimes I think that its more of a challenge then just dropping in an SR.

I heard that it is possible to "drop" in a small block chevy. Is that possible?
