I have been offered a 89 240 black fastback for 1500, looks real nice inside and out, abd then a 91 coupe for 2300, the only difference is liek 10,000 miles otherwise both cars are immaculte and run perfect, is the 91 any better then the 89? i know its got a little more hp and torque stock.. but who leave a 240 stock these day? sum 1 respond plz!

To me and many others the DOHC engine ('91 +) also has much more potential than the SOHC ('89-'90). So yeah, all things being even the '91 is better. Otherwise its whether you like the hatch or coupe better.

when you say potential you mean as far as drifting.. i was using an ae86.. looking to switch over to a 240 after driving a friends... hes my mechanic and does most of the work, i just drive so a 91 better for drifting?...

The '91+ engine is Dual cam, where the '89-'90 engine is Single cam. The technology is better on the '91+ engines, along with the base HP and torque being slightly better.

The chasis is the same from '89-'93, so as for drifting that would be the same until you included power advantages.

The coupe's chasis is stiffer. If it were me I would swap the harness and everything from the fastback to the coupe and sell the hatch. I like coupes better, just a preference.
