So I have an 03 sedan and the wife wants her ipod hooked up. I want to take apart the dash but I am little lazy to find out what I am working with. We don't have a satellite receiver hooked up now. Can I possibly use the inputs of the satelite for an ipod hookup? What is the best way to hookup the ipod. I was thinking there might be some rca hookups in the back to either the tape deck or sat button? Any thoughts or directions are much appreciated. Actually the wife will be happier, which means I am happier

Thanks

I installed the ipod integration unit from Everythingg35.com. I installed it in about 2 hours and I didn't have to take apart the dash. I did have to take apart the liners in the trunk and take the back seat out but it was extremely easy. Ipod in my G is awesome.

That looks pretty cool. You lose your cup holder, don't you? The other one you hide in your console. You can't see the Ipod but your radio display tells you what's going on.

Great Info. I have a question for Isena04G. On the unit from everything g35 it connects in the rear of the car? What do you connect it to? Do I need a sattelite receiver in order for this to work. I see on everythingg35 it asks satellite receiver yes or no? Please advise.

Thanks again for these great links

Assuming you have the SAT connection on your stereo, you will connect the unit to the box located in the trunk. That's why you have to take the liner out. If you have the Sat hook up and you wish to continue listening to the satelitte, then, you need to choose yes to the satelitte question. You will get the harness for that connection. If you click no, you will only be able to listen to the Ipod. If you don't have the SAT button on your stereo, you'll have to email them and ask them how that will connect because I'm not sure. Hope this helps.

Why not just get her an 07? It has a slot for a compact flash card as well as the ipod connection

I think the harness is cheaper than the 07!

ok...so....

first off, im new here! hello everyone!

i just recieved the ipod factory integration unit from g35parts.com (great and fast service btw) and i took apart my trunk like it said in their directions, only to find out that i didnt have the prewiring for sat in my car?! i have the sat button on the factory HU, but there was no wires in the trunk to attach the unit to.

so, my question is: what do i do now? do i have to take apart the dash and hook in to the HU directly with the harness?? what do i do? i am usually pretty good at stuff like this, but this is my first infiniti and i dont want to do something that is going to mess things up! any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

That's kind of strange that you don't have a Sat unit in your trunk especially if you have the SAT button on the dash. Don't do anything drastic like take apart your dash. Do you have the antenna on the back roof of the car? If you do, the unit should be there. Look again to make sure you didn't miss it. It's a metal box that's about 4x4 with two harnesses connected to it. If you still don't see it, email everythingg35 and ask them what to do next. If you don't have the box you MAY not be able to use what you bought but don't take my word for it, ask them.

i dont think i missed anything. i emailed everythingg35 with my issue. after some further investigation, i found out that my vehicle is not prewired for sat....'03 VIN's last six starting with 321894 and up are prewired for sat. im 50 numbers below that....so close, yet so far! so im thinking i will have to return the product, unless i can get the wiring harness from the factory head unit that hooks up to the sat box. think i will give everythingg35 a call tomorrow. will keep you posted!

That does suck. However, make sure you hear from them before you do anything else...they may have better answers for you. Since you have the Sat button, it may not be as bad as we think. You may also want to give them a direct call that way you can explain EXACTLY what your situation is. I sure hope you can come up with something because the system is awesome. Good luck.

While we are on this subject, would this product (i am assuming this is what you purchased;)

http://www.g35parts.com/9083/o...d=521

Would this work in a 03 350GT coupe? Does Japan use Sat radio? Any help would be great cause my BOSE doesn't play MP3's and this would be a cheap solution to purchasing a new DVD changer.

I am looking to use my SAT connection and just have an 8mm audio jack to play music through this connection. There was a post that mentioned that VINs under a certain number are not pre-wired for SAT connection. My VIN is below that number so I am assuming I do not have it pre wired. I do not plan to use my SAT connection for satellite and wanted to know if the PACS product mentioned needs that SAT pre wiring.

Not sure if I have the PACS or not - but my connection is through the satellite port on the back of the radio (not in the trunk). I've seen the trunk install before on a sedan but not sure why it is necessary - I have a coupe BTW

This one connects and charges - but does not control the ipod.

Nope, it says it plugs right into the SAT input.

I put a lot of research into this and this is the best solution I found:

http://usaspec.com/

It should work regardless if you are pre-wired for satellite. You have to install directly to the head unit, so you have to take your dash apart. It took me about an hour and a half from start to finish. Here are some other helpful sites:

http://g35ipod.com/home.php

http://sound-repair.com/index....mid=9

I bought mine off ebay $120 shipped or you can get from crutchfield. It charges the ipod and allows you to change songs through the steering wheel controls.

I just put the USA SPEC ipod hookup in my 04 "G". I just plugged into my existing sat hookup on the back of the deck. I lost my SAT but now i have a direct connect hookup on the ipod for a higher quality sound. My steering wheel functions also work with this unit. I can have up to 5 playist on my ipod mode. Just like the radio # memory. The #6 button is used for an AUX that is also on the IPOD connection. here is the link.... http://usaspec.com/ipod.html

CWeberj30t knows what he is talking about. He is the one that told me about all this. I also did some research and this beats any FM modulator and comes with a 1 year warranty also... It worked out great man! THanks again!!

Glad I could help. It sounds like you have it in playlist mode. I set mine to direct mode so I could control the ipod as well. Not sure if you knew you can set it up either way.

With the USA Spec hooked up, does it show the song name on the head unit display? If not what does it show?

Also how do you set the playlists for presets #1-5?

I havent bought this yet but I would just like to know how it works before I purchase.

It does not show song name on head unit. It works like the cd player showing track number. There are two different ways to configure it. You can set up playlists or you can just play the ipod through the stereo.

Hi guys. I was wondering if you can help me. I have a 2003 G35 (not 2003.5) sedan with factory navigation. My cd has that error problem but Infiniti is charging $$$$. I am looking at the USA SPEC PA11-NIS for my G35 sedan but when I am on the USA SPEC website, it says 2004 or newer G35's are compabitle but does not say anything about 2003 G35's? Do you know if this product would work with my car? It does not have the SAT button on the bose system, it has CD TAPE FM and AM buttons in it.

If anybody can help me with this would be great!!!Thanks!!!
