Ok well I baught her from some kid that didnt know what to do with her. This was about 4 months ago. Summers comming and i want her to be faster... Im definatly planning on adding a turbo... Just dont know exactly when this will happen... First off let me start by saying that this engine is not in the best shape... I mean it runs great and still has lots of power, but it has a tick starting at 2500 RPM during acceloration only... I still havent completly narrowed it down yet but im thinking the lifters... Well i have done a few thing to her so far...

Here is a list of things ive done so far:

Parts:New batteryNew spark plug wires NGK Iridium spark plugsNew AlternatorInjen intakeNew ClutchNew fuel injectors (stock)

Procedures:Seafoamed her (to see if this would help the ticking) It did not...Oil change Royal Purple 5w 30 K&N oil filter.......

Now what i want to know is..... What are some of your recommendations on where to go from here.... Whats the next step? I have about $1000 to spend right now. I already purchased the braking and suspension kits... I just need to get them installed.... I just really dont know what to do with this engine... So if anyone knows what i should do next to prepare her for a turbo set up, please let me know....

Thanx Gio

Pull your valve cover and check for the upper chain guide. If its there remove it, AND the lower chain guide. Youll have to take the distributor and top front cover off to get to it, but take them off asap if they are still on.

the timing chain guides have been removed... Did it yesterday. The top guide was missing (snapped off).. The bottom guide was there with some wear on it. I noticed the valve cover has some chain rub on it too... So where do i go from here... Any suggestion would be appreciated...

If you have the means you should pull the motor. Then resealing it is no problem. If i remember correctly there is coolant running through that front cover and if there is enough slop in the timing chain and no guide to run on, you could wear through the cover mixing your oil and coolant. And if you dont catch that fast enough you will need to pull the motor. KA24 is stout enough to handle low boost. Bring the thing up to snuff as far as mileage based maintenance. Seals, gaskets (usually just a tube of Nissan silicone), a lifter or two, maybe valve adjustment, timing chain and components, etc.... all of these things are fairly cheap when doing the work yourself. Plus with the motor out you can clean the engine bay up, maybe flat black it. Clean the motor up. Really prep the thing to look good when the turbo comes. And you can sleep good at night knowing that a loose chain wont skip a tooth under boost and send a valve into your oil pan. DO A COMPRESSION CHECK FIRST! Make sure the motor is worth light maintenance. Good luck
