so far ive gotten a quote from MobileWerks in Lodi and Sound Concepts in Nanuet (they didnt give me the quote, they want me to bring the unit in).

Anyone have any recommendations on where to take it? i am NOT installing it myself. it's a kenwood dnx5120.

Is there a peticular reason you are not installing your self? If it's difficulty/skill, I can tell you it's probably easier than you think. just my .02

Some people just arent good with wires, and i think if you don't know what your doing you shouldn't touch it. Its a new car don't do it yourself, this car isn't a starter car for doing your own mods.

This is true and i bet alot of people could help you but that depens on your confidence level. That and you need alot of time and patience to do things you don't usually do.

i dont want to even attempt doing it myself, as i have never worked on the dash of a car and don't want to experiment on my brand new car. its a leased car and i dont want to be completely overwhelmed when i remove the unit thats there now.

edit: after reading some tutorials, im definitely not going to attempt this myself.

Try taking it to circuit city or bestbuy.

Maybe it was a joke. Either way, don't go there.

Unfortunately, I don't live in that area or I'd give you a hand personally. There's bound to be decent shops around there. Definitely stick with a smaller place that is dedicated to only car stereo. It also sounds weird, but see if the installers work with fiberglass. In my opinion, if the installers are trained to do a good enough job with fiberglass, they should be able to do most everything else well.

what ever you do DO NOT GO TO SOUND CONCEPTS in Nanuet. The owner Bruce is a real piece of s***. ( excuse the language ) I had a simple install done there he bragged to me how he works on all these exotic cars and the job they did for me was totally half assed. Maybe it was because my job was not much money to him and his company but long story short they left wires exposed which caused me to have problems with the power draining out. After getting it rewired by someone else they couldn't believe the job that was initially done. I spoke with the manager John who said " it must have fallen through the cracks." Bruce wouldn't admit to it but sent me some money back. So he sent me some money not even 50% of what the job cost and still wouldn't admit that they didn't do the install correct. ( makes no sense right ) I basically paid these guys to do the job incorrectly and then had to pay someone else to do it the correct way plus buy a new battery because the other one got totally drained and was useless. I STRONGLY SUGGEST ANYONE LOOKING TO GET STEREO EQUIPMENT INSTALLED DO NOT GO TO SOUND CONCEPTS NANUET!! BRUCE IS A CROOK AND NOT AN HONEST GUY TO DEAL WITH. I have never posted anything on a board about a business I have dealt with but this guy truely ripped me off and had no remorse about it.I hope karma catches up with this guy one day.
