87 z24 4cyl.

it looks like most pics of these motors on the web they don't have the intake setup on either. i'm gona pick up a fuel filter today and see if that helps with the insane bogging in acceleration.

A restricted fuel filter usually impacts acceleration, you're correct.

Why did you post this in the Pathfinder / QX4 forum?

Oh man, I'm feeling slow this week. My apologies.

Download a copy of the 1989 D21 FSM (right click -> save as since it's 112MB), it should have all the information you're looking for. Looks like there is an air flow meter according to page EC-150.

It's not well known, but in the '87 model year year, there was a 4-cylinder Pathfinder, the E model (other trim levels were
XE, SE, SE+sport pkg, 3.0L V6). The E was a serious cost reduce: 4-banger, steel wheels, rubber floor mats, no back seat,
spare tire strapped down in the back, but 4x4. $9999 MSRP (SE+sport was about $17,500). I've saw one or two early on
on the road, none since (I had an SE+sport bought 12/13/87). The '87 PF had a burst of popularity (they were back ordered
about a month when I got mine), so Nissan stopped making the E to concentrate on more profitable models.

We've had one E model owner on here before, maybe the same person.

Have your replaced the air filter? That's a common cause of gasping at full power.

i'll try the air filter but it looks brand new.
i think it has something to do with the intake setup. i don't see a MAF sensor anywhere.. and i can't find a stock intake pvc pipe anywhere for sale. wish it was just like 2.5" instead of some rectangular shape.

If you provide your VIN, I can tell you your trim level and options you've got.

Check here for parts. You can also try giving Rob Lacy of Nissan of McKinney a call at 1-866-742-0297.
