My 90Q alarm can be finicky also. Opening and closing the trunk can set it off the next time she starts up. As suggested the key in the door should clear the alarm.

So it was flooded! But it sounds like it may be flooded again. You really need a strong battery to get through this exercise. Once you get the engine running again, is the grinding noise coming from inside the engine block (chain guides) or from the front of the engine (siezed idler pulley bearings)? You can check the pulleys by removing the belts and rotating them by hand.

You're still at the point where you can make money on this deal. If things don't work out you can part it out and make a profit. You're also close to getting the engine to run and can make a decision then as to which direction to go. Keep at it. Good luck.

Wish I read this post b4 I finished, gotta go to wok- nightjob sucks. Got the battery charged fully for free at Pepboys. Now the alarm was going off everytime I connected the battery, got it to stop unknowingly. Car won't start or turnover, since I don't have the alarm remote and it was going off. Someone suggested it might be the alarm kill switch if it came with one. If so I gotta find it remove it/got it on i don't know. More help please you guys been right about everything so far.( Just wanted to it posted)

Not the 92 Q45 FSM but 94 is close enough here you go.

I found a silver switch with on and off that ran from behind the dash. I believe this may be the alarm kill switch but it does nothing. And when I pulled it(cause it just hung out from the center console around shift nob) the whole cord came out. So I took the dash apart and found no wire the represented it(black and gray) but found a red wire the was cut with inner copper wires showing. Guessing these two were connected but still nothing happened.I tried some research and it may also be the ignition kill switch, not sure. Be as for as things the I see and hear is the alarm going constantly when battery is connected, and a clicking noise coming from dash around the odometer. Tempted to cut off alarm speaker but I know that won't solve anything.

It's definitely an aftermarket alarm. You need to find the module and unplug it. Don't rely too much on the FSM that unknown007 linked for you... the older Q's were very different electrically from the 94+.

I think its under the dash on the drivers side, but the car is to close to the fence so the door won't open all the way. As a fat guy I can't really get in their and look. But the wire from the alarm speaker runs through the firewall under the dash, I just need to get in their. Tomorrow though. Thanks for the advice

For an update, I mangaged to finally get some time to work on the car. Moved it to get some space on the driver's side and completly removed the alarm. They had wires running everywhere and some connected to other connected wires. Now car turn on flawless, smoke out the pipe first then ran well.

Now I want to replace the fan cause its missing two blades. Not sure how to do it, could use some advice. And can somehow let me in on some details about the timeing chains I be hearing about.

Check http://www.q45.org about the timing chain guides. Fan is pretty much a simple bolt off bolt on operation. Biggest thing to remember is to not over torque the bolts into the aluminum fan clutch.

Do you have any obvious damage from when the missing blades flew off?

Fan was pretty easy to remove, but I was helped and removed the entire clutch with fan. And seen no damage from broken fan blade. I also changed the brakes and bleed them. So much air in the rear ones that the brakes didn't even want to work. Oil filter just seemed like to much work to get to, didn't try, just changed the oil. Car runs good, just some smoke from it burning off fluids, no leaks. Needs tags now, not really planning on selling anymore.

Does anyone where I can buy a rear glass and a hood in Maryland preferably in the DMV area. The last glass I had was broken while they were removing it.
