Apparently no decent tires come in 225 40 17 so i am forced to do either 215 40 17 or 235 40 17 Im trying to figure out which would be best for my wheels which are 17x9.5 is 215 too much of a stretch? I dont want any tire roll/sidewall flex which is the reason im getting rid of my 225 45 besides the fact that im going to have some clearance problems when i lower it more. Post pics if you have them or if you know please post them I appreciate it.

I am also afraid of the wheel getting destroyed by not having enough tire between the rim and ground thats why i went with 45 series in the first place but it seems they are causing other problems so im getting 40s haha.

whats the offset????

but almost regardless i would go with a 235/40, i have 215/45's on my Rotas, which are 8.5 wide, and they're stretched a good bit, and my tires have a pretty generous section width compared to other brand/model tires(Falken Azenis RT615's)

The lip on your rim is gonna stick out bad. Their gonna get scratched and possibly un-seated with some drifting. Protect the edges of your wheels with a wide enough tire. 245/40/17 is perfect.

Right now im running 225 45 17 im just worried about tire height on the 40s i dont want the rim really close to the ground.. 225 45 fit nice not a wild stretch i trust it for sure 215s is a little dangerous for daily IMO but i want a really good feeling with basically no flex during a slide.. i had 215 45s on my 7.5 inch kosei wheels that i used to have it felt amazing i want almost that same feeling but im not sure what can give me that. I figured stretch tires increases sidewall ridgity and would make for a more controllable setup maybe 45 series is just too tall on a 17?

if you don't hit curbs, you have nothing to worry about.

and blasphemy, they won't get unseated with drifting unless you're drifting with flat tires.

OM3GA, you'll see that 225/45/17 looks very close to 235/40's as far as the profile goes.

ok but do you think 235 40 will have less flex in the sidewall? I was just worried about getting 235s at first because i have a NA ka right now and i was afraid i could break the rear loose but camber ftw itll break for sure haha. Im curious to see how 215 40 looks as well as 235 40 i like the way the 45 looks but i do not like the way it feels... plus i can be in 3rd gear going about 70mph at close to 4k rpms so the gearing feels a little strange id rather lean more towards acceleration than top speed obviously though... do you think 215 40 would be enough tire and would feel good? or is it too much of a risk and i should go with the 235 40?
