97' maxima gxe

my service engine light is on because my airbag light is blinking which mean trouble. Does anybody know how to troubleshoot this without go back the to dealer and getting ripped off.Ii assume the airbag wouldn't deploy if I got into an accident either. Thanks, any suggustions would be appreciated.

Get a Haynes repair book for under $20.00, it explains how to get and clear the codes. Note unless you fix the problems that caused the light to come on, the light will turn on again after 25 miles of driving or as soon as the shop hooks up the inspection equipment.

You will still fail emission if the required number of start and drive mileage cycles were not done to show ready for test.

This is done so people won't clear the codes in the emission shop lot.

Why do you think the dealer will rip you off............air bag problems are best repaired at dealers because of experience and specialty test equipment to test bags without exploding them.
