Hello I have a 1997 Nissan Pickup, the airbag had been deployed before i bought it. I bought it in Oregon and registered it in Alaska (no safety check required). Drove it around for about 7 years with the SRS light blinking, never bothered me. Then I moved to Hawaii. Guess what. Safety check required! They won't clear me because of the airbag light, so I can't get it registered. I took it the the dealer and they quoted me some $4000 to fix it! I need a cheaper solution.

Does anyone know how to bypass the system? I need the SRS light will act like nothing is wrong. And please don't give me the safety or liability speech. There are plenty of cars out there that pass inspection that never had an airbag to begin with. Why is mine any different?

I will appreciate any help I can get. I wold hate to scrap the truck because of a little blinking light.

Thank you

To answer my own question... My particular problem was the clockspring wasn't working. New part is about $300 i got mine at a junk yard for $80. So heads up for anyone if your airbag, horn and your cruse control are not working then it may be your clockspring. Save yourself some money its a very simple replacement. Check out youtube videos for the how. Also I did find a airbag bypass. Its a resistor you plug into where your airbag should be I didn't try it but it looks like it would work. Hope this helped people. The websight for the bypass: http://crowderscustomizing.com/catalog/ ... -2240.html
