Alright, my car is running in safe mode, threw codes 12 and 34.

My knock sensor isnt hooked up, and I dont know where to start on which plug it needs and connecting it, I searched and couldnt find exactly what I was looking for.

Also, the crankcase vent lines, can I just get those for the FWD ca18de?I "briefly" in all honestly, looked for the vacuum diagram that someone posted, but i just did a topic search and didnt find what I was looking for.

What is code 12? i think 34 is the knock sensor.

LOL, I think you are seeing it cycle through the modes.... You turn it fully clockwise, wait for it to blink to the diagnostic mode you want, then turn it back fully counterclockwise.

NO, it wont rev past 2k. Maf is plugged in, and safc2 settings are 2/7. z32.

Actually though, my friend told me thats what they were throwing, I just took his word for it,

still need help on those questions.

code 12 is MAF

some possible causes: Wiring fault(connector); may need cleaning; sensor no good

Did you make sure to hook up both grounds on the MAF? One goes back into the harness and the other attaches to the chassis somewhere around the maf area.

Alright, if the harness is correctly wired up, then that means MAF is no good? I have a regular ca maf i can use.

C-Rad how does the knock sensor get wired in, i dont believe i have a plug for it...

FWD ca18de crankcase hoses work on ours correct?

The CA18DE has the same knock sensor IIRC, so you could get the plug from one on a junkyard car.

No, I don't think the FWD crankcase hoses are the same. The TB is on the opposite side of the manifold on the FWD motors.

the hose that starts behind the oil filter and ends on the intake valve cover?

i used some hoss hose from home depot, i think it was 5/8" and had some reinforcing, should stand the heat fine and it came in a 10 or 12 foot roll (so i did some catch can plumbing while i was at it with some 90 deg and T barb fittings... funny thing, NAPA was the only place that had 5/8 barb fittings... only abs plastic too, no brass ones

Thanks float for the sensor info, i guess I could go look. My ca harness didnt have a plug or any wire for the knock sensor so I just left it unhooked, what choice did I have? lol.

Yeah Tyrannix, I need that hose as well as the one from the top of the intake valve cover to the back of the manifold, then also the exhaust side.

What do you mean by what we have done with the knock sensor?

Did you motor set come with the lower harness, or did you have to use the KA harness? If you used the KA harness, was the KA you pulled a SOHC, or a DOHC?

you know where you changed the wiring in the battery area?

on the stock ca harness, the knock sensor wire goes from the ecu, pin 23(or is it 21? im having a brain fart) from there it travels through the firewall and into one of the 2 plugs in the battery area. its a white wire, its shielded. run a wire from teh knock sensor to that wire. you are done. i spliced in a connector setup from and old harness to make it diconectable if i ever have to pull the engine.

there is no need to run a wire from the sensor to the ecu like i always see people do, the wire is already in the harness in the engine bay.

Doing that will still allow the knock sensor to function properly?

The reason I was asking was that if you have a DOHC KA lower harness and the car was originally a DOHC KA, then the wiring is already in the lower harness and the chassis. The DOHC KA had a knock sensor and all the wiring for it. All you have to do is make sure the wire is hooked up at the plug behind the battery and then find an appropriate plug to splice onto your lower harness and connect it to the sensor.

I wanted to make sure you had DOHC KA lower harness and chassis harness.
