I want to vaccuum the above ground pool but dont know how to properly hook up the vaccuum. The debris is large so I want to set the pump to "PUMP TO WASTE" so it drains out. And I put the head of the vaccuum in the pool, attached the end of the hose into the return jet to remove air from the hose, and then attached the hose to the hole below the skimmer opening.

Now what do I do?

Thanks!-Jesda

Turn on the pump and shove the pole up and down (don't that sound great?) to prime the pump. After a while (could take quite a while, actually) the pump will start sucking shiat out, and assuming you turned the valve to the pump to waste setting, you're clear!

<- Lifeguard, aka pool *****.

god I hate priming...

make sure to get the hose full of water before you turn the pump on as to cut down on the air sucked in.

the filter itself should have a way to select it to waste.

you're gonna have to frequently empty the strainer basket too, it's best that you have an extra person there to help out.
