HELP!! Looking for good mechanic, my 93 vert transmission just gave up with no warning. Anyone know of a shop in NYC, or more specifically Long Island who have done the 5-speed conversion? I'm in Hewlett, hoping to find a S-13 friendly, experienced mechanic or garage. May have to sell my baby(not gonna get much w bad trans) otherwise shes mint, 49k miles dry, clean cali car. Thanks all!

If you got 47k dont sell it! Keep it as long as you can find a good mechanic! Post an ad on craigslist saying you want a good mechanic that has worked on 240s before and explain what you need done! You will for sure find someone if you live in NY! Tons of people do that up there!

Anyone? Anybody in Long Island or 5 boroughs who has done a swap? Someone want to make some $$? AAMCO wants 1500$ for a rebuilt slushbox, cant bear to do it. She (and I) need a third pedal! Otherwise I'm entertaining offers, anyone want to buy it? Or is this a no-no, and need to post a new ad in Cars for Sale? HELP!!

Search for people on Craigslist who have 5-speeds for sale. Chances are they removed them themselves. Contact whoever you find and ask if they're willing to do the swap for money.

An easy way to search Craigslist is to go to searchtempest.com, put in your zip, and however far you're willing to go or have someone go to help you. Try searching for "240sx", "240 sx", "nissan ka", "ka24*", "ka24e", "ka24de", one at a time without quotes. You could even expand this; look for swapped 240's, or swap engines for sale (RB, SR). You should find plenty of people.

Swapping your transmission isnt that difficult. It sounds worse than it is really, But then again if you have that mind set then please dont.

He has a shop that deals specifically with 240's in farmingdale. He can fix anything 240 related.

I will do it but I live in New Fairfield, CT about an hour and a half from LI let me know if you are interested. It won't take more than a day to finish everything.
