Can anyone recommend a direct fit replacement for the section of exhaust pipe before and after (including) the H pipe? It looks like the pipes go from the CAT back to and including the pre-mufflers (welded together?).

Should I try to price something out new or try to find a local muffler shop to bend and weld a new section of H pipe to match the original?

Thanks,Tony

Look for a post by AZHitman for his solution with his (now defunct) BRM exhaust.

OEM dual exhaust works very well, so not sure if any significant performance increase can be had just by adding an H pipe.

Historically each additional horsepower costs $100-$150 each [a sliding upward scale] to add after ecu reprogram whether in the intake or exhaust.

I don't think that either of you read the original post because both of your response make no sense considering the question.

Are you replacing because of damage? Trying to change the sound (x-pipe)? For these two you should absolutely have a local shop bend pipes for you or weld in a universal x-pipe. Interview shops until you find someone decent-seems like muffler shops are filled with either cool car guys or bitter jerks.

Thanks. I'm just trying to replace it because it cracked at the H pipe and the pipes before and after have rusted through where the clamps for the heat shields were. At this point, I'm just trying to get it back to the original setup. If aftermarket is cheaper that's cool. If having a decent muffler shop bend and weld new pipes in is cheaper, that's cool too. I haven't priced the dealer yet, but something tells me it's going to make me cringe.

Thanks,Tony

I am not aware of any X or H pipe on the G50 exhaust. It is a true dual as far as I can recall.

This is definitely my setup. You can see the H pipe before the 2 pre-mufflers in the second pic.

Sure it's not just a bracket?

In any case, have you checked with Joe? Or just have a shop fabricate it?

Just checked with my local dealer. Depending on the VIN, which I didn't have on hand, it would be between $900 to $1000. Haven't checked with Joe in Scottsdale. The cost of shipping may not be worth it. I think I'll have to have a recommended muffler shop in my area give me a quote.

There is no H pipe..... it's dual exhaust all the way to the "suitcase" resonator at the back of the car, and even that is walled off in the middle, so it's technically still dual there.

Well, all I know is that there is a pipe connecting the 2 pipes running back to the pre-mufflers. Whether it's a true H pipe or it's strictly there for for support, there is something there. I'll have to get it on the lift and take a pic.

Look again. I don't recall a pipe.

In years past, whenever a Q45 customer wanted a LOUD custom exhaust, I had the muffler shop save the oem exhaust for me and I often picked them up 2 at a time.

My 1990 has a 1995 exhaust system and I still have a brand new looking system in storage for the next time.

Check junkyards for 94-96 units.

There is a difference in length [3"] on 90-93 and 94-96 due to differences in cat length.

Was the 1995 exhaust an easy fit for you 1990 or did it require a lot of work?

Cutting off flange and welding in a ~ 3-4" extension then rewelding flange.

What is the benefit of using 1995 parts?

You say that with such certainty. I hope you have crawled under a few more Q's to see that H pipe sitting there.
At least in my 94' it is clearly a factory piece.

You chime in on a post that has been inactive for 4+ years? There is no H pipe on a factory exhaust. I have experience with exhaust and engine removal on the early Q45. It does in fact look like an H pipe but It does not act like one. It is simply there for support until the system combines into the suitcase. Research before your pointless post
