Need some type of generator for the car

I dont know the search term to use or google, because versions of the title arent giving me what I need. When I work on my mods that are basically the electrical in nature, I would prefer not to have the engine running, but my system will kill my battery in no time. I looked at the regular little gas generators, but the amperage is very low and cant see how they'd run my car. Can someone point me in the direction of something to use to power the car with the engine off if thats possible, or is it possible to invert power from the house?

Ahhhhh, I didnt think about that. Any idea on the spec I should be looking for? I'm going to be using it continuously for 2-4 hours? Would it need to stay plugged in the home during this time? Would I disconnect the battery during this period?

Yeah keep it plugged in to the house. 6 amps should do it.
