Hello my fellow Z'ers. Thanks in advance for any advice and help you guys will provide; So I've been having some trouble with my O2 sensors within the last 3 months.. It all started when i started hearing constant 'popping/misfire' noise come out of the exhaust, the car was extremely sluggish, so i read my ecu codes: got a code 53, replaced my right o2 sens, and that fixed the problem.. a month later (1 week ago) it started again, checked my ecu yesterday and got a code 33; so finally rounded up the cash and bought/ replaced the left o2 sens, this time the problem didnt go away.. i disconnected the harness to the sensor while the car was on and boommm, didnt notice any difference. Im a little disappointed and kinda bummed out about it. Please, i know someone knows what's going on ;) shoot me some tips! Your help is very much appreciated! hope to hear from yall soon!

update:: forgot to add that after i replaced the left sensor, the code erased without doing a reset by disc the battery..thats what confuses me the most since the problem is still there.. help plz!

Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then reconnect and start to see what happens. If the problem is still there, check codes. That O2 comes with the connector on it, so the wires should be correct.

Did you do a power balance test? Pull the coil pack connector plugs individually, one at a time, while the engine is running. If you pull one and the idle doesn't change, that's the cylinder of issue.

Also check here for ECU codes and common causes of the issue Vacuum leaks could cause an issue with O2s as well. Fill out your profile more completely, i.e. TT or NA Z.

Yes, running on 5 cylinders will give you a rough idle and popping sound. I wouldn't think it would trigger an O2 code though.

Hmm.. The funny s*** is that after connectin the new o2, I never disconnected the neg terminal..but the code disappeared not the symptoms.. So I turned on the car warmed it up, ran it, then disconnected the o2 while runnin and no diff, figured it was a faulty one..anyways. Just got back home, gonna begin troubleshootin it, ill update asap :)

So installed the o2, and unplugged one coil at a time to see if that was the prob like u said and ur right haha, turns out the 2nd coil from front to back on the left side seems to be bad, the harness looks all beat up n broken too..so ima check that out asap , you're a god. Haha thanks man
