You can play with the recommended rim width. The tire will usually list a recommended 'range'. Try to stay close to the recommended size, but you can vary a bit.
For example:
Dale Earnhadt Jr Hustler rim
- 18x8"
- 5x114.3" bolt circle (this is correct for the Rogue)
- 40mm offset (this is the same as the factory wheels... very good)
IGNORE THE TIRE SIZE RECOMMENDATION (225/60R18)... it's about 3.5% too large in diameter. The sizes Eddnog posted are better.
Possible tire sizes:
225/55R18 - Too narrow for 8" rim. Not recommended
235/50R18 - Popular tire size, lots of selection. 7.5" recommended rim size, you can easily go to an 8" wide rim, no prob
235/55R18 - A bit less common size, 8" wide rim is acceptable.
245/50R18 - This is more of a hi-performance sports car tire size. Limited selection and many are 'summer' only tires.
Tire Selection:
- The ENVigor is getting good reviews. If they had them in stock in the Rogue SL tire size, I would have gotten them.
- The Avid TRZ is a good tire. Many forum members including myself have them. They are a very quiet tire. I'm very pleased with them.
- I have also had good luck with Kumho as a 'budget' priced tire. Decent quality and good prices. They have a good name in racing car tires.
- The big 3: Bridgestone, Goodyear, Michelin... they are pretty decent although I have not used them much.
- Hankooks are less than impressive. I have thier winter tire on my Rogue... there is a reason they are so cheap... they are OK, but not outstanding.
- Continental... I wouldn't put them on my worst enemy's car. I have had nothing but bad experiences with them.
Personally, I would go with the Earnhardt Rims you mentioned and the 235/55R18 Yokohama AVID ENVigor. Nice combination and would look badass on an Indigo Blue Rogue:
