So Ive decided to switch to externally wastegated and I have a new tial f38 wastegate. It didn't come with any flange or the seat so I will be ordering those asap. My question is, my exhaust mani doesn't have a flange so I will need to get a flange and pipe for that and also the screamer pipe. I've seen different styles of the 2 bolt flanges....some recessed some not, some threaded, some not. Are the recessed flanges for the wastegate seat? Also does it matter if its threaded or not? Also my mani is a stainless, I've heard that your not supposed to weld mild steel with stainless and most of the flanges I see are mild steel. Does it make much if a difference? Any help would be appreciated.

I looked at the flanges that they have on their website for you. The recess is for welding a pipe to the flange, and then the threaded/non-thereaded is just if you want to bolt into the flange or if you want the nut and bolt to the flange. You certainly can weld mild to stainless, but with how little pipe your going to be adding, I'd spend the extra few bucks on stainless. You'll probably also want to have someone TIG it together for you as well.

Cool, so the valve seat sits flush with the flange and goes into the wastegate? If that's the case I'm all set. Yeah I didn't see they made the strainless till after I posted but that is the route I'm gonna go. My buddy has a huge welder that does it all (I'll let him weld it, the kids is damne good!)
