don't be a cheap ***. i did and i hate myself for it. so far, people on here seem to like the b&ms and swear by them. a few others say their megan racing ones have done well for them. i went the MR route. it wasn't until someone on here told me how to install the damn thing properly did i actually semi-enjoy it. the factory dust boot doesn't fit anymore, and transmission fluid spills out of the shifter.

megan racing one. i would like to have gotten this one.

the crappy one i DID get and hate.

b&m's version, i think the megan racing one took off of this design. if i'm wrong, shoot me.

as far as shift knobs, i like some slightly-heavier wheighted ones. i got a razo 240 gram leather shift knob. leather because it just feels nice and doesn't burn my hand when it's 90 something degrees out, and it's snazzy.. i'll admit that.

i heard some "drifters" like super heavy ones, i've even heard of one pound + knobs.

i like heavier, it feels a little smoother.. more inertia, helps slide into gear. unless you miss, and then the damn thing's heavier so it's a little more work to move it around.but, c'mon.. it's 200+ grams.

walk into a store and grab a bunch of their knobs and just run around swinging your arms.if they don't try to tackle you, and you don't accidentally hit anyone, go with what you think'll work for you.

i don't buy into the whole.. shift knob helps you "drift/race" thing, or those stupid ginormous "racing" pedals make you "faster".imo. they do have their purpose though.my razo pedals have this stupid adjustable thing on the side that extends to make the pedals a little closer or farther apart, and it's nice for heal-toe or w/e.. but i was okay without them. it's simply a nice-ity.

good luck.

I agree with johnnyballs, I got the B&M shifter with a Circuit Sports weighted shift knob and love it. Here is a picture of the shifter and shift knob installed:

for the longest time, i thought a short shifter was.. just that.. a shorter shifter. i guess the way it works, is the swivel-point is higher, so the length of the "throw" is reduced. makes sense, it works fine, but i would still like it if the shifter itself was a hell of a lot shorter. i think that'd make the throw even shorter, but i was worried if that'd make shifting a lot more difficult. you know, because of leverage and all that. but i think an inch off the top wouldn't be too bad. i don't know how to weld and i don't have any tools to thread, so i won't even bother at this point. maybe later on though.

I went with the B&M which is quite a bit shorter then stock, that is why I got the CS weighted shift knob, it is adjustable up to four inches which moved it closer to the stock position. The throw of the shifter is significantly reduced and it is a much tighter feel. It does take a little getting used to.
