Hey everyone, I just put my SR in, it runs but when it does im getting some serious squeeling which I think is the belt on the water pump, due to one of my bolts being stripped, and one snapped off when I tried to use my clutch fan. Any suggestions?

Also.. if the ecu is reset it will idle around 800-900 rpm, but once revved it will flat out die, any suggestions would be great. And when revved it makes a low sound almost like a "Floop" mixed with a zip tie being closed.

Also.. speedo isnt working, all the wiring we beleive is correct(we took HTs diagram and did it step by step), and the KA speed sensor is plugged in.

Also..... we're running very rich, tons and tons of black smoke is coming out of the tailpipe, no clue on this one though.

And finally... when the engine is revved the clock dims as u rev, and brightens as the RPMs fall..

I apologize for the length but this car has to be in daily driver shape in a few days, any help would be soooo appreciated.

Ok that would be the alternator belt. What bolt snapped off where? The tensioner bolt broke? I can't help you without knowing which bolt stripped and which one broke...

...? Sounds like something isn't plugged in or wired right. I have no idea what you did or what that sound could be, sorry. The idle is about right. Should be at 850 rpms.

Also.. speedo isnt working, all the wiring we beleive is correct(we took HTs diagram and did it step by step), and the KA speed sensor is plugged in.

Need more info on your setup. What year 240 did you swap the sr into? What gauge cluster are you using?

Also..... we're running very rich, tons and tons of black smoke is coming out of the tailpipe, no clue on this one though.

Check your plugs, O2 sensor, and timing. Also, what fuel pump are you running and are you using the stock fuel pressure regulator or an adjustable one?

And finally... when the engine is revved the clock dims as u rev, and brightens as the RPMs fall..

Is that backlight in the clock the only thing that does this? Have you tried this at night to see if other things dim? Well regardless, it's obviously and electrical problem.

Hope this helps so far.

alright, have an update, not a good one, but a update none the less...

I pulled the valve cover off and realized.... the f***** cams were dry, and on first inspection the oil pan had a small dent in the center, didnt look like it was going to affect the pickup, but we took it off and it almost had a what it looked like as a small kink or dent in one of the corners.

So we figured the cams+ journals prolly screwed, but we rent and ran a compression test to see how bad our bottom end was, or could be.

Cylinders 1 and 2 we got 175, 3 and 4 we got 150. Why on earth would 1 and 2 read the exact same, and 3 and 4 the same??? Thx for the help

And its the backlight thats dimming, and this is a redtop SR going into a '91 240
