Alright, this is pretty off topic but I need some help. I have two cars, my 90' 240sx and my 92' Dodge Spirit R/T (In need of a new turbo). I got a C on my report car, and my dad took my 240 to RI (I live in Mass so its a good hour and a half away). But, he is away on business for the next week and he left his car here. He drives a 03-04 (not sure) Izuzu Ascender (The same exact platform as a GMC Envoy). Now, last time I "borrowed" it, he found out by looking at the odometer. Is there any way I can drive it and disconnect the power to the dash so the odometer wont be on and he wont know if I drove it or not? Basically, I'm going to die of boredom if I dont get this on. Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Would you want your dad to start poking around with your car?

He did start poking around with my car, by taking it to an entirely different state. And its not like I gave him the keys to my car so he could take it, he took it while I was out with friends one night. And, the car is in my name. So he had no right. Thats why I'm doing this

I agree...Besides, the dash readout has nothing to do with weather or not the odometer changes. That is controlled by the ECU which reads it from the transmission. (don't try disconnecting the plug because the transmission will not shift)

Are you sure? Because a long time ago my stepdad had a 96-98' Dodge Dakota and he purposely left something unpluged so the odometer would never go on, but that also turned of the tach and speedo. I'm positive everything else worked though.

Isn't it a federal offense to mess around with the odometer? Although the car is in your name, did you pay for it? If so, that's a different story and you should try to get it back, not mess with his car. If he paid for it, then you really can't demand the car back IMO. And I'd say study harder, get the car back, who knows, maybe your dad will reward you also.

What does you getting a C on your report card have to do with any of this?
