Yeah i may have some bad luck, not quite sure but i may. I left all of my internals of my CA18DET at my friends house to watch over them. well he had some hired help clean up his back yard and scrap alot of stuff and he thinks they scraped my stock internals. including the head. I have the block and tranmission still.

so here is my question. what is the difference internally between a FWD CA18DE, and the CA18DET RWD. besides the pistons? I know the valve covers are slightly different. and the intakes face a different way. anything else internally? like is the crank a completely different crank (stroke?), and can the FWD head fit on a RWD block? and does the FWD block have a stud girdle and oil squirters?

I can get a CA18DE longblock from the junkyard for cheap to move most of the normal rotating assembly and such. but i need to know what is different?

Thank you guys

from what i have read, the everything is the same besides the oil squirters, crank girdle, valve covers and rods

Now i already have nice rods, does anyone know where i can get the oil squirters, crank girdle, and valve covers would be nice too but the valve covers are not neccisary.

Thanks

I think the squrters are integrated into the block.

I don't think you can just throw some in.

I think the cams are different as well.

well the block i already have is the Japanese spec block that already had them in there. I just need the internals, and to find out where i am going to have to find them. can i just modify the DSM's to fit? or are there another set of oil squirters out there that are readily available that willl fit?

Damn i was afraid the cams were different as well. i guess that gives me a reason to upgrade.

Can anyone with a FWD oil pan post up a picture of what they look like?I would go to the junkyard and look but it is raining and you need a full mud suit to go,

usdm doesnt have squirters. cams are the same from ca18de and ca18det. Im swapping my usdm ca head onto my det block.

I havent taken my ca18de apart, but im pretty sure the rods are the same if not very close.

what sorta picture do you need? My pulsar has only had its fwd setup

you need to purchase the oil squirters from Nissan directly, they are removable.

You can use a DE head but have to cap off some EGR stuff I believe.

You need DET rods, and DET pistons.

So the DE head is really the only usable part, along with a DE crank. I like that part.....the DE crank being available here in the states.

As others have said, the head will work, but the valve covers are different, the USDM blocks don't have the squirters, the rods are weaker, and there isn't a main cap girdle.

Good luck!

if you can give me a picture of the side profile of the tank and with a lable on which side is the nose side and which side is the flywheel side.

I already have Pauter rods so i am not worried about that.

anyone have the part numbers for the oil squirters from nissan? THanks guys this sounds like its going to work.
