figured i would go to the guys whos opinions are the most respectable...

and before i get started im sorry i havnt been on the boards recently, but school is killing me this semester! its like working a full time job but without the whole money thing...

ok, so ive got to get new tires. i was just wondering what everyone had tried and what will give me the best bang for the buck on a CA powered 240sx. i was going to go with some michelin pilot sport ps2s but theyre sooo expensive! the advan ad-07s are actually cheaper by one dollar! anyway, im looking for something in the max performance summer category since i live in alabama and the coldest it ever gets is 95, with 100% humidity. i hear good things about the kumho ecsta mx and the hankook ventus r 212 or whatever they are. anyway, i would like to get more than about 15k miles out of them and it would be nice if they have pretty good wet traction. size wise i need 225/45-17 and 245/40-17, preferably v, w, y or z rated. ive had the falken azenis sports and loved them but they are too sketchy when wet, plus i only got about 6k out of them before they were toast. have bridgestone grid-IIs right now but they are a little bald, and were not quite sticky enough to begin with. thanks!

falken azeins (sp?) my friend rocked them on a 500hp rb26 setup, the difference between those and the es100's was night and day, he still spun like a mofo in 1st and 2nd but 3rd was sooo much better

ive had es100s, they were shot after about 7k miles. as far as grip goes theyre okay, but after having those azenis sports on it i dont think i could go back. the falkens were just better in every way, and soooo cheap!

anyone running the kumho ecsta mx's? i hear they wear like rocks....

oh, and for the record im not concerned with spinning them or anything, as i never launch the car hard. i just want something that will stick like glue and last me a reasonable amount of time.

don't buy the MXs. i run 225/50/16 in the back and the grip is pretty poor, and wet traction sucks.

the Hankook Z212's were rated #5 out of the 11 best max performance tires. the MXs were 11th.

Try the new azenis RT-615 I believe they are they have tons of sizes so you should be able to find somthing are are supposed to be like 45% better in the wet than the old ones. I run the older style azenis and dont have any problems in the wet I dont see why people always say they have problems, What was so sketchy about them in the wet?

I had the Pilot Sports on my '96 M3 but I switched to Pirelli P Zero Asyms (sp?) when I tore out both right side sidewalls in a pothole. don't think the Pirellis are much cheaper than the Michelins but for what its worth I felt the Pirellis had a better handling feel.

They make tons of models of the eagle F1's you will have to make a more clear model of the exact tires you are talking about.

boostin, those falkens will stick like glue until they wear down. mine owned wet or dry weather (provided i heated them up first - they dont even work when cold) but noce they wear down a bit youll see the downside of having such huge tread blocks.

edit: i totally forgot to mention i got a set of BFGoodrich g-force T/A KDW2's. they are rated almost as highly as the pilot sports, and at 120 bucks a tire i couldnt say no. gotta love those costco specials!! wholesale 0wnz j00!

BFGoodrich g-force T/A KDW2's

That is exactly what I plan on running for my next street tire. I've read nothing but great reviews about them.

Good choice IMHO Tim!
