A 2010 configured your way [plain jane] is $13,870 MSRP inc destination fee.
And while I am too far away to know for sure, that "include the discount in the pre-tax price" seems bogus to me -- I think they're bumping it up to pocket the extra tax.
You're in the drivers seat [even if it is a beater] -- don't be rushed -- let them know that you are interested but . . . [shrug of shoulders] . . . you can keep driving what you've got. But DON'T keep going back -- they'll know you are hooked.
Why not talk to the dealer with the auto and tell him to find you a car with MT and say you'll buy at $13,400 out the door [AT costs $1,000; he'll get a couple of bucks from the lack of tax paid].
Good luck!
Your right they are starting to circle the carcass on the side of the road.. just waiting until it’s ripe!
$13,870 for a 2010.. Maybe I have made some progress then? $14,292 including tax, title, tag, dealer fee’s..etc all in seems almost decent? I agree I think they are pushing it up with the discount to take an extra cut. I may just hold out see if they start drooling closer to the 30th lol! What I’d like to do is push them under $14 and into the $13’s now then they do have a deal worth taking!
I’m not allowing myself to be rushed which is why I left that dealership today they were all ready to do the credit and take a deposit lol. These people would make great politicians or recruiters for the military lol I’m still talking to the dealer with the auto at close to the same money. He was trying to push me to come in for “extra savings” but I’ve refused and he’s emailing back quite a bit! Turns out in the fine print his original offer at $13,400 was junk he didn’t include certain fees the real offer from him is $14,600. These people are impossible to get a straight answer outta!
On another note I tried to apply for financing to see what rate I’d get and of course I got a page not found grr when I did it online.. now I’ll have to phone it in so I don’t end up running more than one check on my credit file. Thinking I’ll check rates outside the dealer then inside to see which is best. As I’m taking the $1250 I won’t get the low interest which if I figured it right over a 36 month period it doesn’t save much more than the $1250. Once I’m approved to finance this car I need to sell the other one ASAP and try to setup a smooth change over while I’ve got tags on both lol. It'd be perfect if I got around $2,000 for the other car and laid that down along with some savings as my deposit then loan the rest of the price.
