Ok let me explain my situation.

currently i own a 2004 g35 coupe with the performance 18 inch rim package. I am going to need new tires in about 1/2 a year. my question is should i stick with my 18 inch oem rims (no scratches) and just buy the new tires (I would get avons costing (600 with shipping and another 120 to mount). or should I upgrade to some 19 inch oem forged rims with tires (ie takeoffs) that I can purchase for about 1200 locally (assuming i sell my current rims for 200 - 250 it would mean about 250 more than just replacing tires).

A friend of mine told me the 19s would not be a good decision could it would mess up the way my car rides. that didnt make sense to me becuase the 06 coupe has 19 inch rims on it, why would infiniti compromise the ride of its vehicle?? any opinions??

Your friend is clueless. In fact, you could theoretically NEVER buy new tires again, just keep buying G35 takeoffs with new tires!

I recommend the 19" forged Rays OEM wheels, they're an awesome upgarde (I ran them on my Coupe for several months).

UPGRADE TO 19 FOR SURE.

I had stock 18's, only kept them on the car for about 3 weeks before I upgraded to 19's........i will never look back.......19X8.5 in front and 19X10 in the rear !!

i have 19inch Iforged wheels on my car and love them!! im running a 245/35/19 in the front and 275/35/19 in the rear.. but for the drag radials its on a stock g35 wheel that i keep spare!! my friend has a tt g35 that is rollin on 20's so 19's are no problem!!! tires are kinda pricy though!!!
