Hey guys, I need some help with my current SR set-up! I have a Zenki S14 SR20DET swapped into my S13 Hatchback.
The current mods are ;
- Large FMIC
- Walboro 255 fuel pump
- Z32 MAF
- HKS SSQV IV BOV
- Equal length exhaust manifold
- 3" catback exhaust (no resonators, cat, or muffler)
- Megan Racing turbo extension
- 3" turbo elbow
- Manual boost controller

So, I know the stock injector size is 370cc, and the T28 is set stock at 7psi? I was wondering, how much psi can I run SAFELY on this set-up, as it is my daily driver. I have searched high and low on the forums, and I'm getting SO many different answers. It's quite frustrating. Some people are saying you'll start leaning out at even 10psi? Which is what I intended on running until I buy my top feed fuel rail along with 740cc injectors. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks :)

take it from me, and 3 turbos later, stay at 7psi til you have the tuning to allow/accommodate more.

Exactly what I thought! I'm staying at 7psi until I get bigger injectors and tune :) Thanks buddy!

Maybe get a wideband and something to monitor knock and check out you're own stuff? That's the only way to be sure on you're car.

Yeah, the turbo downpipe that came with my swap has a sensor in it. I'm guessing that it is for a wideband?

Also, what would you guys opinion be on a cost-effective top feed fuel rail and injector set-up? I've been looking at Circuit Sports top feed rail, and Deatschwerks injectors. Someone's recommended me to "five-0" injectors.

Get a standalone b4 boosting anything past stock boost. Yeah yeah b4 anybody says something they have no clue about tuning........

S14 engine come stock 370cc's, 440cc injectors,(480CC'S??)

Five O Motorsports have good 550CC's which I bought WITH A FLOW CHART!! Make sure you have one before you get it tuned up on a Butt dyno......

740cc's is WAAAAAAAAAAAYY to0 much fuel for a T28. Be sure to get high impedance pulse injectors.
With an Sr20DET too much fuel will cause pinging. You need to lean it out to be ideal not running pig rich and have soot on your rear bumper.... AFR for my last setup was between 12-14 ran fine no pinging........... :)

The stock rail can handle 850cc's with no problem. You might need to get a different fuel pressure regulator though..

Hmm, standalone? My buddy with a 700hp CRX doesn't even have one. He says it's too "racecar" for the streets. He's running a piggy-back and his car is STRICTLY a track car. What is wrong with getting it ROM tuned? It's not that I don't believe in what you're saying, I'm just getting everyone's opinions. So could I do ROM tune, with wideband?

Well, I have the chance to buy 550cc side-feed injectors off a buddy of mine for $300, SLIGHTLY used. Would I benefit from a high flow rail? Or could I keep it stock? Also, do I need an FPR to run about 10psi on a T28 and those 550cc's?

There absolutely nothing wrong with rom tuning a car. Have it rom tuned, dyno it (or data log the info you need with your wideband) send you're chips back with data logging info and have it fine tuned. Get the chips back and data log your car again to double check work.

This x 10... My car is rom tuned. I will say that if I were to start over, I'd go with a standalone and have it dyno tuned... There's so more potential.

Piggy back is stupid, though... Especially if you're going to daily drive and depend on your car.

True, I'm rom tuned with piggy back (for fine tuning and is very reliable) but at the end of the day now that I tune my own car I'm debating switching to Nistune. More control is good if you know what you're doing.

I called my buddy about tuning my car, and he said it was $600 for the ROM tune, and $200 on top of that if I want it tuned with "Nistune" This is cheap for a tune, no? Not sure if he charges extra for dyno time. Thanks for all the help though guys.

For a rom tune tune that's way over priced. I think he is talking about a Nistune setup.

Really? I live in Southern Ontario, in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) I'm still shopping around for the right tuner to do it. He seems to have it down pat!

I know everyone is going to tell me to just "search" and I have. But what benefits does Nistune have? Over ROM? I'm really noobish!

My guy in socal will install board, and street tune it chip style for $300. if you want it dyno tuned you just pay the dyno time. I've gotten MANY tunes from him (mail order) and my only complaint is that there are spots on the fuel map that are very rich. (which I fix myself). Ecu service with a base tune is $165, you ship the ecu. Rom tunes YOU will not be able to change unless you know how to reprogram, nistune is a hardware and software that you can plug your laptop into the stock/modified ecu and tune it like a stand alone.
